Molly becomes the first chick to win a playoff game in Robioland – Semi-Finals, 2002
Robioland has always been about diversity and Robio loves the Jews (Jeff), the retarded (Matt) and of course the ladies. The first woman was Stephanie. She was a cutie who knew a thing or two about football, but in2000, her first and only season in Robioland, she stumbled out of the gate at 3-7. She did rally to win three of her last four, but she lost a head-to-head tiebreaker to Jimmy.
In 2002, there was talks to bring her back into the league, but since I couldn’t sleep with her living in New York, there was no incentive. In 2001, Mark Patini from New York agreed to be in the league, but backed out at the last second. Robio’s girlfriend at the time, Anne, agreed to step in. She wasn’t a huge football guru, but she followed the book and drafted well. She dominated the league, becoming the first team to start the season 10-2, however, she lost her top pick Edgerrin James to an ACL injury and that was that. She lost her last two, and was upset in the first round of the playoffs. In 2002, Anne was gone so we brought in Molly.
Unlike other ladies in the league, Molly had to sleep with Griff to get into the league, as opposed to me (you figure out what’s worse). Anyhow, Molly was no slouch when it came to football, but out of the gate, she took a whooping from her man in week one (actually she only lost by 100 points). She then proceeded to win four straight. She suffered a week sixdefeat to fellow rookie, Masterson, before rolling out four more wins. After ten weeks, she had the best record in the league at 8-2. She ended updropping her next two, but Molly turned it around winning her final two. At 10-4, she was the top seed. While she never was able to get a weekly high score, she was still the third highest scoring team in the league.
In the quarter-finals, she took down dear friend David, but in the semi-finals, she faced off against Masterson, who had defeated her earlier in the season. If she won, she’d be the first female to make it to a title game. In her second meeting with Masterson, Molly came through, knocking off Rob, 1,646-867. Molly faced Robio in the finals and lost, but the 12-wins and runner up status meant she was going be around for a long time. In five years in Robioland (prior to ’07), Molly was the third winningest team in that time span, 44-30 (.595), winning three divisional titles. FACTS ABOUT SUGAR TITS: While most men would laugh about having women in fantasy football, our three ladies are a combined 60-43 in Robioland.
