Rob Masterson scores a league record 2,501 points in a single game – Quarter-Finals, 2003
Heading into the 2003 playoffs, Masterson was considered a solid team. In two regular seasons, he managed to twice go 7-7, winning a playoff game in 2002. He had recorded three career ‘weekly high’ scores to only one low score. He also manage to score over 1,500 points six times already; his high up to this point being 1,864 in 2002. For the second straight year, he entered the playoffs as the 7th seed, this time facing Molly in the quarter-finals.
Despite the lower seed, Rob was the
favorite to win, simple because he had outscored Molly by over 2,000 for the year. What we didn’t see was that Rob would shatter the league’s high score by 177 points (a record that stood for over two years). Masterson’s 2,501-1,319 victory not only propelled him into the second round, but it put him in the record book. He now had the record for the most points scored in a single game by one team and he shares the record with Molly for the league’s most combined single game score with 3,821. In the semi’s though, Rob ran out of points and bowed out to Griff, 1,591-1,064.
