Don has the worst three-game stretch in league history, week’s 1-3, 2003
Coming off a solid 8-6 season in 2002, Don was expected to take another step further in2003, especially with big names like McNabb, Dunn and Faulk, but it only took three weeks for all of us to realize, ’03 was going to be a long, long, long year.
Don didn’t just stumble out of the gate, he fell flat on his face. He lost the opening game to his son, Eric, 960-603. The following week got worse as Don fell to Griff 692-505. It went from bad to a ‘record breaking’ worse in week three.
Facing Molly, who had yet to break 1,100, Molly gave Don every opportunity by only scoring 494 points in the game, but it was still too much for Don to overcome. He ended up scoring a record low of 263 points, breaking a record I thought would stand forever (Robio’s 280 in ’99). Don was now 0-3, averaging a pathetic 457ppg. It didn’t help his ego when he realized his opponents only averaged 715ppg…a forgettable and ugly three-game stretch. For the record; of the fifteen players that Don drafted that year, he cut thirteen of them.
