For four straight years, this league has been blessed by the same four players. Some may even say that the league really didn’t begin until this group of four arrived and that the four earlier years shouldn’t count.
I personally feel like those people should die and go to hell and if they say that again, I’ll kick them out of the league. However, I do believe it is proper to celebrate the last four years (all keeper years). It’s been an unpredictable four years, with four different teams winning the title and ten of the twleve teams missing the playoffs at least once.
1. Richard Burrier – The Burrier Bruisers: The regular season champ, who has struggled to win the big one 2. Griff Coomer – The Goon Squad: His 2005 squad may have been the best ever. 3. Robio Murray – The Ming Dynasty: I have the scoring, but the points haven’t always produced wins 4. Bob Castrone – The Hart Foundation: The flip-flopper; Bad season, good season, bad season, good season 5. Don Vozzola – Gator Nation: 2nd last in scoring, but only one losing season and one title 6. Molly Coomer – Molly Pop: Always seems to find a way to win, even when the teams is down 7. Jeff & Colby – Quarter Pounders: Great teams with no titles…opportunities lost? 8. Rich Calderon – Manhattan Projects: Has there been any more disappointing team the past couple years? 9. Rob Masterson – Backstreet Boyz: It took a while, but he finally had a winning record in 2006 10. David Hightower – David the Patriot: 2006…worst season ever. 11. Matt Neatock – The Franchise: He has a division title and a record 24-game streak of at least 1,000 12. Eric Vozzola – Class of ’07: Last, or near last in every major category.Richard Burrier

24 of 60WHY #1? Rich benefits from the fact we drop his first year, a non-playoff year, but since then he’s been the best. He’s first in regular season wins, with four divisional titles to boot. He’s averaged 18,609/season and his 24 1,500-point games, is the league best. His eight weekly high scores is second best in the league. He’s also one of only two players to make the playoffs all four years (Griff is the other). He has one title back in 2003. However, Rich has failed to win a playoff game since that title game. 18 of 64WHY #2? Thanks to his playoff success, Griff trails Burrier in regular season wins (35-33), but is the league leader in overall wins with forty. Like Burrier, he’s made the playoffs all four years, but he’s had more success. He has failed to make it to the final game only once. His seven playoff wins are the league’s best and he earned his first title in 2006. His 18,126/season is third highest, however, Griff has managed to have the league high score only three times in 54 regular season games; all in one season (2006). (Last Year – #2)Robio Murray

21 of 60WHY #3? I’m the only one in the top five without a title and for that matter, the only one without an overall winning record, but I got a good case. I trail only Burrier in total points, by only eight points and my 11 weekly high scores is the league high. I’ve failed to score 1,000 only seven times, a league best and my twenty-one 1,500-point games is second best in the league. I’ve nearly hit the cycle with post-season play. I missed the post once, lost in the first once, lost in the second once and lost in the finals once. I’m only missing that elusive title on my four-year resume. (Last Year – #4)Bob Castrone

11 of 59WHY #4? Bob has bounced back and forth in this league since day one. First he missed the playoffs, then won a title. Then he had the league’s worst team, then followed it up with a trip to the semi-finals. In four years, Bob is one of five teams with a winning mark, however he’s one of only three teams to fail to miss the playoffs twice in his career. For a while he was having too many ‘lowest weekly’ scoring games, but he finally went a whole season (’06) without one and is the current leader in 1,000-pt games with 16 in a row. 9 of 59WHY #5? You see what a title will do for you? It bounces you up four spots. Thank to a title run last year, Don moves above .500 in his career in both total wins and playoff wins. He did manage to add three more weekly low scores to his total over the last four years, tying him with Bob with the most (eight). He also did manage to score two weeklyy high scores, his first over the last four years. I would love to put Don higher, but I can’t ignore that his 15,976/season average is still the second lowest in the league, right ahead of his beloved son Eric(Last Year – #9)Molly Coomer

8 of 57WHY #6? She’s third in wins and she’s tied with Burrier with 16 divsional wins (including two divisional titles) over the last four years. Despite being third in total wins, she has not won a title over the last four years. In fact, she has a big zero in the playoff win column over the last four seasons. She also needs to get her 1,500 games total up; eight is not enough to be an elite team. However I can’t ignore the wins anymore, thus Molly moves up five spots. (Last Year – #11)Jeff & Colby

13 of 60WHY #7? Last year was supposed to be the year of the Pounders, instead though, they drop two spots on the four-year rankings. They are still 5th in the league in scoring and do have six weekly high scores, but they have yet to produce a winning record in divisional play and have failed to win a playoff game in two of their three years in the post-season. Don’t worry, I did take into account that their opponents have averaged 17,902/season over the past four years, the league’s highest. (Last Year – #5)

18 of 58WHY #8? His 17,713/season is currently the 4th best in the league over the last four years, but those numbers have not translated into playoff trips. He missed the post-season the last two seasons, becoming only the second owner in the history of the league to miss the post-season two years in a row (Eric’s working on 6-straight). Worse yet, his scoring average has dropped the past three years. However, Rich gets to stay ahead of Masterson because not only does he score more, he’s tied with Matt with the least about of low scoring games (only one) since he arrived in the league. He’s gone an impressive 47 straight weeks without producing a low score. (Last Year – #3)

14 of 59WHY #9? Rob produces his best season to date (his first winning season), yet I move him down? I know, it makes no sense. However, I didn’t really move him down. It was just the fact that the people below him had great years (Don won a title, Molly won a division) and only Dave had a bad enough season to drop that far. Rob, like many of us, is hurt by the loss of his first season in this category, but that’s life. Anyhow, he sits 5-games under .500 and he’s produced one more low score than high score. He is sixth in the league in scoring and when he does get into the playoffs, he usually manages to win at least one. (Last Year – #8)David Hightower

8 of 59WHY #10? You go 1-13 and this is what happens to you. Dave now has only a 0.5 game lead over Eric for overall record over the last four years. Over the last 25 games, Dave only has three low scores and zero high scores. He only has eight 1,500-pt games, five of which came in one season (2004). He was always boosted by the fact that he was the only team to never miss the playoffs, but that all ended last season. (Last Year – #7)Matt Neatock

7 of 56WHY #11? The good news first; Matt did manage to go 8-5 in 2005, winning a divisional title. He also has the record for most 1,000-pt games in a row (24), but that’s about it for the highlights. The bad news; he’s ten games below .500 for his career and has never won a playoff game (in two trips to the post-season). His seven 1,500 games beats only Eric. The strangest fact is that in 54 regular season games, Matt has only had the low score once, in week fourteen in 2004, the week that ended his record streak of 1,000. (Last Year – #10)Eric Vozzola

5 of 54WHY #12? It’s simple, you want to move out of the last spot, make it to the playoffs just once. In fact, that still might not be enough. Eric is last in wins, second-to-last in divisional record, tied for last in weekly high scores, last in points per season and he has the least amount of 1,000-pt games and 1,500-pt games in the league. Hell, Eric only has 12 more 1,000-pt game, than Burrier has 1,500-pt games (Last Year – #12)
