It’s official, Bob is the 2011 Robioland Football Champ.
Thanks to his most impressive finals game to date, Bob has taken down Burrier, 1,590-1,283.
Mr. Castrone becomes the league’s first back-to-back champion since 2000. He also becomes the first person to win at least nine games in six straight seasons. How impressive is that? Put it this way, only two teams in league history have produced at least six nine-win seasons total, forget in a row. Those two are Griff and myself and we spent half our time in the league playing a 14-game regular season.
There can be little doubt Bob is the Master of This Domain. He puts up the points, he puts up the wins and he puts up the championships.
He becomes only the second person in league history to earn three mugs.
He did it with arguable the year’s best draft pick (Cam Newton). He’s the type of player who could be hurting us all for at least two more years.
He did it with a trade, landing two top-10 wide receivers (Wallace and Nelson), who contributed 494 points this past weekend. In fact, his title team consisted of three players he traded for (when you add in Steven Jackson).
Congratulations Bob.
As for Burrier, sure it’s never fun to lose in the title game, but at least you’re not going through the pain that both Masterson and Colby are probably still going through, dealing with a last second Monday night defeat to Bob.
In the end, the season has to be labeled a success. Rich went two straight years without a playoff appearance and he knocked down his first two post-season wins since 2003. That’s called getting over the hump.
