2019 (Almost) Mid-Season All-Robio Awards

Through seven weeks, it shouldn’t shock many that Calderon has three All-Robio players, while I have four. It makes sense, since he and I are first and second in scoring. However, we do not lead the league in All-Robio players. That would be Masterson, who has five total. He has two in the 1st, two in the 2nd and one on the 3rd.

All but two teams have at least one All-Robio player. After six weeks, both Colby (with Mahomes) and Burrier (with Carson) had a third-team All-Robio player, but both dropped after week seven performances, thus they are the only two without.

FIRST-TEAM ALL-ROBIO TEAM

QB – Lamar Jackson (Robio) How good has Jackson been this season? He has more fantasy stats rushing (1,040) than Baker Mayfield has in total (928). So far, Lamar is proving to be a better Michael Vick, who only managed to earn two 3rd-team All-Robio awards in his entire career.

RB – Christian McCaffrey (Rob M) The the surprise of no one who has been paying attention, McCaffrey has dominated the league through six weeks. Averaging nearly 400 points per contest, he’s on pace for 2,461 total yards and 24 touchdowns. His combined carries and targets (171) is 21 more than the next guy on the list.

RB – Dalvin Cook (Michael) Averaging a stud-like 5.5 yards per carry, Cook is the league’s leading rusher with 725 yards. His eight rushing touchdowns are also tops among all backs. He’s broken 340 fantasy points in all but two games, cracking the 400-point barrier three times. He’s currently averaging 334 points per game, which would be the 13th best in league history.

WR – Chris Godwin (Bob) Want to understand why Bob has won three in a row and back in the playoff picture? Forget Watson and Aaron Jones and look no further than Chris Godwin…the league’s top receiver. Godwin has caught 80 of his 54 targets, averaging 15.4 yards per catch. His 662 yards were the best before his week seven bye. His six touchdowns are also tied for the most.

WR – Michael Thomas (Robio) I got Thomas in a week two trade and the man has done nothing to disappoint me. Despite missing Drew Brees, Thomas is first in the league in receptions (62), on pace for 142 this year. He has 763 yards receiving, which is also the league high. The only thing keeping him from the very top are the lack of scores. He has three touchdowns on the season so far.

TE – Austin Hooper (Rob M) To prove this has been a unusual year, Hooper is the sixth player making their first ever appearance on the first-team All-Robio list. While Julio and Ridley may be the more favorite targets for Matt Ryan, Hooper has hauled in 84% of his 55 targets for 526 yards. His four touchdowns actually leads the Falcons.

PK – Justin Tucker (Matt) To the surprise of no one, Tucker remains in full beast mode. He’s leading all kickers with 850 fantasy points. He’s made all 16 of his field goal attempts, including four from further than 40. Oddly enough, he’s attempted none of 50.

DST – Patriots (Rich C) As I already mentioned in this week’s Tuesday Thoughts. They have allowed just one passing touchdown, grabbing 18 interceptions, sacking the quarterback 26 times and scoring five touchdowns. Right now, easily on track to be the greatest defense of all-time. Right now, they’re giving up just 4.29 points per contest.

SECOND-TEAM ALL-ROBIO TEAM

QB – Russel Wilson (Rich C) Eight quarterbacks were drafted ahead of Wilson, including one by Rich in the second round (Aaron Rodgers), but only one so far has proven to be better. So far, Wilson has yet to throw a pick, while still being tied for second most touchdown passes (14), while nearly three-fourths of his pass attempts.

RB – Nick Chubb (Rich C) One of three backs averaging at least 300 fantasy points per game, Chubb is averaging 5.3 yards per carry, which is over 100 yards per game. Oddly enough, despite being a decent receiver, he only has 20 catches for 128 yards, which is the second lowest behind Derrick Henry among top-10 backs.

RB – Ezekiel Elliot (Robio) After back-to-back 350-point efforts, Elliot has climb back into the All-Robio discussion. Dominating the carries in Dallas, he has three 100-yard efforts this year and has scored a touchdown in four straight games.

WR – Amari Cooper (Rob M) He’s caught 38 balls o the year, which is 24 behind the league best, but he’s surprised us all with his deep ball abilities, averaging 16.3 yards per catch, scoring five touchdowns as Dak’s favorite target.

WR – D.J. Chark (Rob M) While having Godwin at the very top is certainly surprising, having D.J. Chark on this list at all is fucking shocking. Despite catching only 33 balls so far this year, he’s a beast when he does get his hands on it, averaging 17.6 yards per catch and scoring five touchdowns.

TE – Travis Kelce (Eric) Tied for the earliest a tight end has ever been taken, can’t help but feel like this season has been a disappointment. Of course, this is what happens when you’re Travis Kelce, playing with the league’s best quarterback. Overall, the numbers are good; 57 catches for 541 yards. His 14.2 yards per catch is tops among TEs in the top-10. However, he’s been invisible in the red zone, catching just one touchdown pass. He had 18 over the last two years combined. .

PK – Matt Prater (Bob) He’s missed an extra point and a pair of field goals, but he’s a perfect four-for-four from beyond 50. Those account for 280 of his 700 fantasy points. So yes, long is good.

DST – 49ers (Griff) Lost in the shadow of the greatest defense ever (Patriots), the 49ers are dominating as well. While their sack total (20) is a bit on the low side, they have forced 13 turnovers and scored twice, giving up under 10 points per game.

THIRD-TEAM ALL-ROBIO TEAM

QB – Deshaun Watson (Bob) Thanks to his five rushing touchdowns, Watson is actually tied for the league high with 18 touchdowns by a quarterback, while still reaching the top-8 in passing yards. The only thing keeping him out of the top spot are the sacks (21) and the turnovers (five interceptions, three fumbles).

RB – Leonard Fournette (Matt) The Jaguars back is second in the league in rushing yards with 715, averaging a career high 5.0 yards per carry. He’s even decent in the passing game, catching 28 of 38 targets for 203 yards. His problem remains the end zone, a place he rarely visits. He has just one touchdown on the season.

RB – Austin Ekeler (Jeff) After another solid outing catching the ball in week seven, Ekeler bounced back into the group of All-Robio’s. He leads all running backs with targets (53), catches (49), yards receiving (488) and receiving touchdowns (4). However, with the return of Melvin Gordon, Ekeler’s carries went from 14 per game to four. At that rate, it’s only a matter of time before he dips off this list.

WR – Cooper Kupp (Robio) On a team fill with Todd Gurley, Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks, who would have thought a post-ACL tear Cooeper Kupp would be the fantasy stud? His 77 targets is second in the NFL and his 51 catches leads the Rams. Not bad for a guy who I picked up just before the end of our regular season last year. This gives me two of the top four wide receivers in the league.

WR – Mike Evans (Jeff) At best, this is a bit of fluke. 47% of Evans’s stats came in 560-point effort against the Giants. He also has a 56-point game in week one and he was shutout in week five. Having said that, right now we have two Bucs receivers on the All-Robio list.

TE – Darren Waller (Don) Oddly enough, a guy I barely even heard of is proving to be Derrick Carr’s favorite receiver. Now in the past, being Carr’s favorite receiver hasn’t meant much, but Waller has been solid. He’s caught 88% of his 50 targets for 485 and two scores.

PK – Josh Lambo (Don) Despite only attempting a stunningly low 10 extra points, Lambo is perfect kicking field goals, making all 18. He’s 6-for-6 from below 29, 8-for-8 from the 30s and 4-for-4 from the 40s.

DST – Bills (Rob M)  Because they have a bye-week under their belt, the total stats won’t jump out, but they have 13 sacks and forced 10 turnovers. They are one of three teams not giving up 300 yards per contest, allowing only 12.83 points per game.
