As we continue to play more and more seasons of Robioland Football, it’s become harder to break records, but plenty of people added their names to the record book this year.
ERIC VOZZOLA beat Rob Masterson back in week two, 2071 – 1345. The 2,071 points scored were the 29th most points scored by one team in league history.
The 2015 quarterfinals, BOB CASTRONE scored 2,002 points in a victory over Burrier. It was the second time in three meetings, Bob scored 2,000 against Rich. The 2,002 points is the 43rd most points scored in a game.
Back in week five, RICHARD BURRIER crushed Rich Calderon, 1,903 – 788. The 1,115-point margin of victory was the 18th largest ass kicking in league history.
In the final week of the regular season, MOLLY COOMER pulled off a massive upset, knocking Bob off…barely, 1,085 – 1,081. The four point margin of victory is tied for the 8th closest game.
BOB CASTRONE started the season winning eight straight, before finally losing to Griff. Add in the three straight wins he ended 2014 with, that’s 11 straight victories…3rd longest winning streak in league history.
ROBIO MURRAY ended 2014 with two straight defeats and then started 2015 with six more defeats. That 8-game losing streak is tied for fifth longest.
Dropping six straight games in one season usually spells doom, but not for RICHARD BURRIER. He became the second person in league history to make the playoffs despite losing six straight. Having said that, that losing streak is tied for 13th longest in league history.
For a long while, it looked like BOB CASTRONE would challenge for most points scored in a regular season. Well, he struggled a bit at the end and finished the year averaging 1,507 PPG. He became just the sixth person to average 1,500 points per game in a year and his 1,507 is the fifth most for a regular season.
He didn’t win the scoring title, but GRIFF COOMER still scored a ton. His 1,478 points per game is tied for 13th most points scored in a regular season.
You know there is some scoring going on when three teams crack the top-25 in points scored in a regular season. ERIC VOZZOLA averaged 1,443 PPG…21st on the list.
Most points in a regular season is cute, but let’s talk about most points scored total (regular season and post-season). Griff COOMER lead the league, scoring 24,350 points in 2015. That was the fourth most points scored ever.
He didn’t win the title, but BOB CASTRONE still put up some fine numbers. He finished the season with 22,913 points. That’s the 13th most points scored ever and the most points scored by a team that failed to reach the title game.
COLBY HALL came up one game short of his first title, but he did finish with 21,890 points. That’s the 25th most points scored in a season and ninth most for a runner-up.
In week nine, BOB CASTRONE saw his 11-game winning streak come to an end to Griff. However, it’s not like he failed to show up. His 1,670 points scored in a defeat were the 12th most in league history.
ROB MASTERSON was swept by Eric this season. In their first match up, Eric’s point total cracked the top-30 in points scored in a game. In their second meeting, Rob scored 1,661 points in a defeat. That proved to be the 22nd most points scored in a defeat. Rob’s name appears on that list six times among the top-25.
In week seven, MOLLY COOMER became the first team to lose to me. However, don’t blame her team, they scored 1,644 points (and lost by just 47). The 1,644 points is the 23rd most points scored in a defeat.
Despite not having a good team, it didn’t help me, ROBIO MURRAY, that my opponents always seemed to show up. In fact, my 1,429 points per game I gave up was the 7th most in league history.
Proving that you can still win against tough competition, COLBY HALL reached the title game, despite his opponents averaging 1,389 points per contest. That was the 19th most points scored against in a season.
MOLLY COOMER battled all season, as her opponents averaged 1,363 points per game, the 28th most scored against in a season.
Like Colby above, GRIFF COOMER also faced some tough competition. He won the title, despite his foes scoring 1,358 points per game…the 33rd most points scored in a season by a team’s opponent.
Starting in 2013 and ending this season, COLBY HALL scored at least 1,000 in 26 straight games. That was the 5th longest streak in league history.
Between 2014-2015, GRIFF COOMER scored at least 1,000 in 18-straight, 14th longest streak.
Also between 2014-2015, MATT NEATOCK scored at least ,1000 in 17 straight.
Don’t forget about ROB MASTERSON, he scored at least 1,000 in 16 straight games.
Of course, scoring 1,000 in a game is child’s play. BOB CASTRONE broke the only record of 2015. Dating back to last year, Bob scored at least 1,250 points in 25 straight games…a record by nine games.
Heading into next year, GRIFF COOMER will be riding a nine-game streak where he has scored at least 1,250. However, even if he does it in every game next season, plus three playoff games, he won’t be able to pass Bob until 2017.
With a strong finish to 2014 and solid beginning to 2015, MATT NEATOCK scored over 1,250 in eight straight; the 13th longest streak in history.
ERIC VOZZOLA scored over 1,250 in six straight this season…the 27th longest streak.
Starting way back in 2013 and ending with a win over Molly, ROBIO MURRAY went 22 games without sniffing 1,500 points. That was the 8th longest streak in league history.
Last year, ERIC VOZZOLA failed to hit 1,500 in his last 12 games, then didn’t do it again in week one of this year. That 13-game stretch without 1,500 was the 31st longest streak in league history.
When COLBY HALL got the weekly low scored in week two, it was the first time since 2012. The 37-straight games without a weekly low is the 11th longest streak in league history.
BOB CASTRONE last produced a weekly low scored in week one of last year. That’s 25 straight games and counting…currently tied for 25th longest streak.
In week six, MOLLY COOMER got the weekly high score. It was the first time she had done that since 2011. The 51-game streak without a weekly high was the 7th longest in league history, eight shy of the record.
In week two, ERIC VOZZOLA got a weekly high score, his first in 35 weeks…the 11th longest streak in league history.
RICH CALDERON was the king of not getting weekly low scores, but now he’s avoiding weekly high scores. Between last year and this year, he went 25 weeks without a weekly high score, tied for 23rd longest streaks.
