We play 13 games, so there is no real halfway point, so I go with week seven as our midway point. Here are the All-Robio players…so far.
Right now, I’m giving the league MVP to Devonta Freeman (Burrier). He barely beats out Tom Brady. Fact is, since becoming a starter in week three, he has averaged 438 points per game, which is around 90 more points per contest than Brady.
FIRST-TEAM
QB – Tom Brady, NE (ERIC) Eric landed Brady in a trade deadline deal last year and the decision has really paid off. Brady is having one of the greatest seasons ever. He’s averaging 378.7 points per game. His worst output was week five, when he produced “just” 318 points.
RB – Devonta Freeman, ATL (RICH B) Freeman wouldn’t be the first 1st-team All-Robio running back to get cut and picked up that season (DeAngelo Williams in 2008 was cut by Bob, picked up by me), but he would be the first one to be cut and added back by the same team). Anyhow, Freeman is averaging 351 points per game which is stunning, considering he didn’t start the first two games. Right now, he has 822 more points than the next back on this list.
RB – Matt Forte, CHI (RICH B) Burrier is doing something that has never been done before, he has two first-team All-Robio running backs. Think about that, because we’ve had some pretty amazing back fields in this league, yet never has one person had the top two backs. Forte is averaging 261 points per game, although it’s going to be a fight to stay up high on the list, because I’m not sure he’s going to be able to hold off Le’Veon Bell and Todd Gurley (both who missed two games to start the season).
WR – DeAndre Hopkins, HOU (RICH B) Stunningly, this is Burrier’s third first-team All-Robio player…in a row. He’s never had three in one year before. As the clear top option in Houston, Hopkins is averaging 267 points per game, which is pretty amazing when you consider who has been throwing him the ball this year.
WR – Julio Jones, ATL (MATT) He exploded out of the game with a pair of 400+ games in the season’s first three weeks, but has slowed lately, failing to hit 200 in three of his last four. However, it’s not from a lack of targets. Jones is coming off a game where Matt Ryan targeted him 17 times and he has 90 for the year (behind only Hopkins).
TE – Rob Gronkowski, NE (BOB) He’s had four 200+ games, including one 368-point effort, averaging 238 points per game, scoring nearly 100 more points than the next guy.
PK – Stephen Gostkowski, NE (ERIC) Maybe I’m starting to get why Eric always drafts the first kicker each year. Gostkowski is on pace to earn his third 1st-team All-Robio award.
DST – Broncos, DEN (MATT) Denver’s defense has been so good this year, I actually have them in consideration for league MVP. That good, yes. They are averaging 224 points per game, which is 69 more points per game than the second best defense. That’s the largest gap between top scorer and second best scorer.
SECOND-TEAM
QB – Andy Dalton, CIN (JEFF) To show you how little respect the league showed in Dalton, he actually lasted on the wire until week three before Jeff picked him up for $3. You want a little more lack of respect? He’s only started two games, twice sitting behind Brees (both times Dalton outscored the Saints quarterback). He’s averaging 348 points per game, never failing to hit 300 in any game.
RB – Doug Martin, TB (COLBY) This should piss off anyone who has had Martin the previous two years. After scoring just 1,074 points in 2013 and 1,236 last season, Martin has already produced 1,550 points on the year, currently riding a three-game 100-yard streak.
RB – Chris Ivory, NYJ (ROB M) How good has Ivory been? He’s missed one game due to injury and another because of a bye-week, yet he’s still fifth in total fantasy points by a back. Not bad for a 13th round pick.
WR – Larry Fitzgerald, ARI (BOB) Fitzgerald has had some amazing fantasy seasons, earning an All-Robio award four times. However, if he continues to score like he has been this season (which is unlikely), he will have his best fantasy season ever.
WR – Brandon Marshall, NYJ (BOB) The wide receiver spot was the weak spot Bob would need to overcome, yet here we are and halfway through the season he has a pair of second-team hands. Despite struggling with some drops and dumb laterals, Marshall is averaging 223 points per game.
TE – Gary Barnidge, CLE (GRIFF) After a pair of 200+ games, Griff grabbed the Browns TE off the wire for $12. He’s paid off, as he has averaged 246 points per game since Griff got him and 190 PPG for the season.
PK – Steven Hauschka, SEA (RICH C) Sadly, this is Calderon’s highest All-Robio player so far this season. It’s just been that kind of year.
DST – Jets, NY (COLBY) They only scored 54 points against the Patriots, but that’s considered a great performance against New England. The Jets have broken 200 three times so far this year.
THIRD-TEAM
QB – Aaron Rodgers, GB (RICH C) Averaging 339 points per contest, Rodgers is on pace to earn his second straight third-team All-Robio award. However, his numbers seem to be down, as he’s failed to hit 300 in his last three games before going on a bye. Still, he’s averaging a solid 34 more points per game than the next QB (Rivers)
RB – Le’Veon Bell, PIT (BOB) He’s actually second in the league in points per game with 290 PPG, but because he was suspended those first two games, he’s going to have to settle for third-team for now.
RB – ADRIAN PETERSON, MIN (GRIFF) Griff traded up for him in the draft and so far the move has paid off. While Peterson has suffered through a pair of shit games, he’s averaging a solid 235 points per contest, barely holding off Mark Ingram for the last All-Robio RB spot.
WR – Keenan Allen, SD (JEFF) Despite his horrid start thanks to injuries and true busts, Jeff can’t blame any of the bad on Allen. The Chargers receiver has caught a stunning 74% of his targets, averaging 219 points per game.
WR – Allen Robinson, WR (ROBIO) He’s consistent, but not great, catching less than 50% of his targets. However, he averages over 17 yard per catch and has six touchdowns so far this season.
TE – Greg Olsen, CAR (COLBY) A couple of bad games has kept Olsen’s stats down, but he also has a pair of 300+ games.
PK – Josh Brown, NYG (MATT) He’s 15-for-15 for extra points and 15-for-15 for field goals.
DST – Cardinals, ARI (ROBIO) It’s official, I have more All-Robio players (two) than wins (one).
