2015 Award Season

Sadly, Bob Castrone’s film “Flock of Dudes” was not nominated for a Golden Globe, but what the fuck do foreigners know? Right? If Bob wants an award…this is the play he belongs.

It’s time to handout some more hardware. With the playoffs just beginning, we’ll have to wait and see who will earn “Biggest playoff collapse,” as well as league runner-up and of course league champion. However, we do know who has won all the regular rewards. Be prepared for a lot of Bob and a lot of Griff. Of course, not all awards are for good, so you’ll see plenty of Don, too.

For all previous award winners…go to the AWARDS PAGE.

‘TOP SEED’ AWARD | BOB CASTRONE Bob becomes the first league member in 17 seasons to earn back-to-back top seeds. He’s gone 21-5 the previous two regular seasons.

‘TOP SCORER’ AWARD | BOB CASTRONE Just like in top seed, Bob becomes the first person in league history to produce back-to-back scoring titles. His 1,507 points per game is the fourth most for a regular season and he’s the only person to average over 1,500 in two straight years.

LOWEST SCORING TEAM’ AWARD | DON VOZZOLA For just the second time in his career, Don has earned the award for lowest points score, averaging 1,109 points per contest. The last time he did it was way back in 2003 when he averaged 966 PPG that year.

‘WORST TEAM’ AWARD | DON VOZZOLA For the fourth straight year, just one team managed to “earn” both the ‘lowest score’ and ‘worst team’ award (by finishing in last place). Don managed to win just three games and has missed the playoffs for a fourth straight season.

‘LUCKIEST TEAM’ AWARD | BOB CASTRONE For the second straight year, Bob proved to be not just good, but lucky, as his opponents averaged a league low, 1,204 PPG. This is the third time Bob has be rewarded this honor.

‘UNLUCKIEST TEAM’ AWARD | ROBIO MURRAY While my team was not very good, I certainly would have made the playoffs with a better schedule. Instead, I win three games after my opponents averaged 1,429 points per game.

‘BEST SECOND HALF TURNAROUND’ AWARD | GRIFF COOMER For the third time in his career and first time since 2005, Griff has earned the “best second half turnaround” award. He was 4-2 at one point, but after dropping a pair, he fell to .500, seventh in the standings (despite scoring well overall). However, after taking down undefeated Bob in week nine, he never tasted defeat again, finishing 9-4, earning the 2-seed.

‘WORST SECOND HALF COLLAPSE’ AWARD | RICHARD BURRIER Picking the winner for this award was quite easy. Richard started the season 5-1, second in both the standings and scoring. However, six weeks later, he had yet to win again and was barely holding onto the final playoff spot. He came through in week 13, but man, what a collapse. This is the second time Burrier has earned this award.

‘MOST SURPRISING TEAM’ AWARD | GRIFF COOMER I had Griff pegged as the 11th best team in the league. I had no faith in Adrian Peterson and other players on this team. I was wrong. He ended up finish second and not second-to-last. This is the first time Griff has earned this award, which is good, because it means i don’t typically pick him to finish near the bottom.

‘MOST DISAPPOINTING TEAM’ AWARD | RICH CALDERON If I pick you to finish first and you miss the playoffs, this award belongs to you. This is the second time Calderon has earned this. The last time was way back in 2003.

LEAGUE’S MOST VALUABLE PLAYER | TOM BRADY (ERIC VOZZOLA) Last year Colby ended a four-year run that saw one of the Coomers produce the league MVP (Griff in 2010, 2013, Molly in 2011, 2012). Griff almost made it five out of six with Cam Newton, but in the end, Brady proved to be the best of the best of the best. This is the first time Eric has produced a league MVP.

‘TOP KEEPER OF THE YEAR’ AWARD | ODELL BECKHAM (GRIFF COOMER) This one was tough because we had so many good keepers this year. Mark Ingram (Rob M) was an excellent keeper in category two, earning 2nd team All-Robio. Also, how could I not consider Tom Brady. He’s the league MVP this year and Eric kept him round five. However, this season featured a pair of studs who were kept deep in category three. Chris Ivory is my “best keeper” runner-up. He finished third team All-Robio for Masterson. However, Beckham was kept in the 14th round and his 2,914 points is more than both Ingram and Ivory. This is why I’m rewarding him with the “Best Keeper” award. Amazingly, Griff is becoming the king keepers. This is the fourth time in the last six years he has won this award.
