It’s sort of the halfway point in the season and it’s time to look back at what we’ve seen. Let’s start off with something simple, the first-half All-Robio awards. Colby has the league MVP, Calderon has the most and I’m the only one to have nothing. In fact, there has never been a season in this league where I didn’t have at least one All-Robio. In fact, there’s only been two seasons where I didn’t have at least one first-team All-Robio. Man, it sucks to be Robio.
LEAGUE MVP: DEMARCO MURRAY, DAL (COLBY) Thanks in part to the new scoring rules, Murray is just 26 points per game behind the league’s top quarterback, averaging 349 fantasy points per game.
FIRST-TEAM ALL-ROBIO
QB – ANDREW LUCK, IND (RICH B) Since 2003, only two quarterbacks not named Manning, Brees, Brady or Rodgers has earned first team All-Robio. It was Carson Palmer in 2005 and RGIII in 2012. Neither of those two appear to be headed in that direction again. However, Luck is ready to challenge for this spot each and every season.
RB – DEMARCO MURRAY, DAL (COLBY) He’s on pace for 427 carries and 2,086 yards. That is both impressive and scary.
RB – MATT FORTE, CHI (ERIC) He has 448 yards rushing and 436 yards receiving, which means he’s on pace to become first 1,000/1,000 back since Larry Center. Wait, really? Larry Centers had 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in 1995? Wow.
WR – DEMARYIUS THOAMS, DEN (MATT) After averaging just 120 points per game in his first three games, he’s produced a stunning 447 points per game in his last three contests; probably the greatest three-game total by a wide out in league history.
WR – ANTONIO BROWN, WR (BOB) No wide receiver has been more consistent. He’s never had a bad game, hitting 200 in six of his seven games so far.
TE – JULIAN THOMAS, DEN (RICH C) Did I say he was as good as Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski? I meant to say he is better than those two…at least this year he is.
PK – STEVE GOSTKOWSKI, NE (ERIC) He has at least two field goals in every game. He leads the league in attempts (19) and made field goals (18).
DST – LIONS, DET (GRIFF) Reason #437 why drafting a DST is pointless…the top two D’s in the league right now went undrafted.
SECOND-TEAM ALL-ROBIO
QB – PEYTON MANNING, DEN (GRIFF) Only Peyton Manning can earn second-team and have it feel like a disappointment. This would be his 11th All-Robio if he stays in the top three, which I would say is a record, but his 10 are already a record.
RB – LE’VEON BELL, PIT (JEFF) I can’t believe I drafted Doug Martin over this guy. I can’t believe I drafted Dough Martin over this guy. I can’t believe I drafted Doug Martin over this guy.
RB – ARIAN FOSTER, HOU (MATT) Injury was the concern coming in. He missed one game, but looks fine now. I can’t believe I drafted Doug Martin over this guy, too.
WR – JORDY NELSON, GB (RICH C) I told you. I only keep bringing it up because it’s about the only thing I got right in 2014.
WR – JULIO JONES, ATL (MOLLY) After a solid start to the season, Jones’ production has dropped since Atlanta’s offensive line became an issue. H’es averaging just 156 in his last four, after averaging 293 in his first three games.
TE – GREG OLSEN, CAR (ERIC) The U, baby! Did you know that Olsen was an offensive tackle as a freshmen at Miami? Fun fact of the day and you’re welcome.
PK – CHANDLER CATANZARO, ARI (RICH C) Wait, who? The Cardinals kicker has scored 160 or above three times. No one on my team has done that.
DST – COLTS, IND (RICH C) They started the season scoring just 21 points in their first two games. Yet, here we are. They’ve hit 200 in four straight.
THIRD-TEAM ALL-ROBIO
QB – RUSSELL WILSON, SEA (MOLLY) This is a bit of a surprise, but he’s been propped up by two 500 point games in his last three match ups. However, he holds a solid 36 points per game lead over the fourth place Philip Rivers.
RB – MARSHAWN LYNCH, SEA (ROB M) He broke 290 in three of his first four games, but has struggled as Seattle has struggled in his last two.
RB – GIOVANI BERNARD, CIN (DON) He’s hit 220 in four of his first five games and has the longest rushing TD of the year so far.
WR – T.Y. HILTON, IND (MOLLY) He’s only broken 200 three times, but one of those times was a 506-point effort. Add in Russell Wilson, Molly has had three 500-point performances this year.
WR – STEVE SMITH, BAL (JEFF) A big free agent pick up and the only player on this list that has been traded (from Colby to Jeff)
TE – ANTONIO GATES, SD (DON) Out of nowhere, Gates shows the league he isn’t done. He’s trying to earn his seventh All-Robio award, second only to Tony Gonzalez at the tight end spot and his first since 2010.
PK – DAN BAILEY, DAL (JEFF) He’s one 50-yard field goal away from being the top kicker in the league.
DST – BRONCOS, DEN (DON) Last year the third best defense averaged 160 points per game. This year? Just 140.
