2013 Preseason All-Robio Predictions

Note to league members, of the eight players I predicted to be first-team All-Robio in 2012, only one actually finished the season as a first-team All-Robio player. So yeah, grain of salt. Of the 24 players on the first, second and third teams, 1/3 did finish on one of those teams. That’s not bad.

First-team All-Robio

QB – Drew Brees, Saints (Rob M) He’s already produced two first-team All-Robio awards and two second-team awards and with the return of Sean Payton, he should elevate back to the top in 2013.

RB – Adrian Peterson, Vikings (Molly) The dude nearly broke the all-time single season rushing record coming off a late-season ACL injury in 2012. That’s freaking amazing. Do you think I’m suddenly going to doubt this dude?

RB – C.J. Spiller, Bills (Griff) Yeah, I’m going there. He had 1,244 yards last year, despite the fact that he had single digit carries in six games. More carries in 2013 equals more fantasy points.

WR – Calvin Johnson, Lions (Don) It’s ridiculous that this guy had only five touchdowns last year, despite producing almost 2,000 yards. That’s not going to happen again.

WR – Dez Bryant, Cowboys (Bob) Last year, things started to click for Bryant in week nine. If you take his stats from those eight games and assume he’ll do that over a full season in 2013, you can assume he will catch 100 balls for 1,758 yards and 10 touchdowns.

TE – Jimmy Graham, Saints (Robio) Graham played with a bad wrist last year, yet still finished with 85 catches for 982 yards and nine touchdowns. A healthy Graham should be closer to his 2011 production, 99 catches/1,310 yards/11 touchdowns.

PK – Matt Bryant, Falcons (Robio) He hasn’t missed a 50-yard field goal since 2009.

DST – 49ers Defense (Colby) Despite all their greatness the past two years, the 49ers D has yet to be a first-team defense. That changes this year.

Second-team All-Robio

QB – Cam Newton, Panthers (Bob) The sophomore slump ended around week 12 last year. It’s time for the junior bounce.

RB – Ray Rice, Ravens (Eric) All he does it produce. Think about it, he had 1,601 total yards last year and it was considered a bad year.

RB – Alfred Morris, Redskins (Eric) The only think that kept Morris’ 2012 season out of the top-1o best rookie seasons by a running back was the lack of receptions. There is no reason to believe he won’t get another 300+ carries and gain another 1,600 yards on the ground.

WR – Randall Cobb, Colby (Colby) Too high? Maybe. I think Cobb is a star in the making, especially when you consider what he did despite the minimal of targets by Aaron Rodgers.

WR – A.J. Green, Bengals (Bob) Come on, am I really suppose to give a crap about this?

TE – Jared Cook, Rams (Bob)   Cook is in the perfect situation. The Rams are desperate for a big inside receiver and Bradford has the goods to deliver it to him.

PK – Phil Dawson, 49ers (Don) While David Akers couldn’t hit the side of the barn from 15 yards out, he did attempt 94 field goals the last two years in San Francisco. Guess who the new kicker in SF is? Go ahead guess.

DST – Seahawks Defense (Bob) They averaged 267 points per game in their final seven games last year, including a record setting (for a defense) performance against the Cardinals (693 points).

Third-team All-Robio

QB – Peyton Manning, Broncos (Griff) He’s already got Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker and now he has Wes Welker. Seriously, can you have too many weapons?

RB – Trent Richardson, Browns (Don) I’m looking for a dark horse and I think I found one. As a rookie, he failed to break 1,000 yards rushing, but he did manage 1,317 total yards despite not playing a single preseason game and starting the year with a knee injury. He’s healthy, his line is improved and the coaching staff knows what they are doing.

RB – Matt Forte, Bears (Matt) He hasn’t produced over 1,100 yards rushing since his rookie campaign, but I like the Bears new coach, who knows how to get running backs open room to run. I think Forte leads all rushers in receptions in 2013.

WR – Brandon Marshall, Bears (Colby) Target. Target. Target. Don’t be surprised if he leads the league in targets.

WR – Demaryius Thomas, Broncos (Robio) Adding Wes Welker inside will keep linebackers honest and open up things even more for Thomas.

TE – Tony Gonzalez, Falcons (Matt) I did say in my 2013 predictions that his stats would fall a little? I did, but let’s keep it in perspective. Even if I’m right, his numbers will still going to be better than most.

PK – Garrett Hartley, Saints (Molly)  He’ll lead the league in extra points. That’s something, right?

DST – Bears (Don) Da Bears.
