Rob Murray

2013 Mock Draft

ROUND ONE

1. Jeff – Arian Foster, RB HOU It comes down to three guys, Foster, Charles or Calvin Johnson. Starting next year, thanks to the scoring changes, running backs are going to be more valuable. If I’m picking, I’m taking the guy who has been an All-Robio player three straight years as oppose to the guy who I’ve been told will become an All-Robio player.

2. Don – Jamaal Charles, RB KC Megatron is tempting, but so is a back field that will feature potentianlly two top-five backs in Charles and second round keeper Trent Richardson. That’s a good way to re-start a eight-year playoff streak.

3. Colby – Calvin Johnson, WR DET Despite the fact he already has two top-10 wide receivers in Randall Cobb and Brandon Marshall, Colby has never been one to shy away from three-wide. With Johnson, he could have the greatest trio of receivers ever.

4. Matt – Aaron Rodgers, QB GB Here is where the first big decision needs to be make. This pick screams Matt Frote, but Mr. Neatock has said he will be going quarterback. Of course Matt tends to get flustered and ends up picking Ronnie Brown here.

5. Rob M – Jimmy Graham, TE NO He told me he’s taking Graham and he’s never been one to lie. It’s a big risk because Graham did little to prove he was worthy of a first-round pick last year.

6. Molly – Matt Forte, RB CHI If I know Molly, she’s not one to pass on a running back. I’m not sure why Forte isn’t getting the love. Sure he’s not a touchdown machine, but he remains one of the best run/catch backs in the league.

7. Rich C – LeSean McCoy, RB PHI (Keeper) Obviosuly Calderon doesn’t have complete faith in DeMarco Murray and Steven Ridley, so he becomes the first person that I can recall to keep three running backs. Can you say “trade bait.”

8. Griff – Dez Bryant, WR DAL He’s already got a top-five back in C.J. Spiller and quarterback Peyton Manning. He still needs another RB, but it’s tough to pass up arguable the second best receiver in the draft.

9. Rich B – Chris Johnson, RB TEN C-John has had a good offseason (no contract problems) and good preseason (58-yard TD run). At the very least, he’s still the best offensive player in Tennessee.

10. Bob – Demaryius Thomas, WR DEN I’ll be honest, Bob is the hardest person to predict, especially in the first-round. There are plenty of decent backs with question marks, but Bob has never been beholden to running backs (in his career he’s drafted five running backs and five wide receivers in the first round). Look for Mr. Hollywood to grab the best available player.

11. Eric – Ray Rice, RB BAL (Keeper) Yeah, this was a no-brainer. A Ray Rice-Alfred Morris backfield could easily be the league’s best for the second straight year.

12. Robio – Larry Fitzgerald, WR ARI There are a handful of running backs that I like, but I truly believe one or two will still be there when I pick in the beginning of the fourth round. It’s a hell of a gamble, but I think it will payoff. I’m going…

ROUND TWO

13. Robio – Andre Johnson, WR HOU …back-to-back wide receivers, although I would prefer Demaryius Thomas over Johnson.

14. Eric – Roddy White, WR ATL He’s got his two backs and he could roll the dice on a quarterback, but the elite wide receivers won’t last much longer. If Eric wants one, he’ll need to go now.

15. Bob – A.J. Green, WR CIN (Keeper) Last year Bob started the draft with Dez Bryant and A.J. Green. This year it’s Demaryius Thomas and A.J. Green. This just means he’s going to need to do a better job of grabbing backs later on.

16. Rich B – Vincent Jackson, WR TB If he’s keeping Frank Gore (4th round) over Jamaal Charles (1st round), then he must be planning on playing him. This means it’s time to get a wide out.

17. Griff – Maurice J0nes-Drew, RB JAC Last year’s awful year is going to scare some folks off of MJD. That’s their mistake, but it won’t be Griff’s mistake.

18. Rich C – Drew Brees, QB NO Tough call for Rich. He needs two wideouts, a quarterback and a tight end. Calderon is a man who has come to appreciate the importance of a quarterback. He could wait and try to get another one, but that proves to be too risky. The reality is, if Brees really does fall this far, he’s an absolute steal.

19. Molly – Adrian Peterson, RB MIN (Keeper) Remember when no one wanted to draft him last year? Molly does.

20. Rob M – Doug Martin, RB TB (Keeper) Rob wanted Adrian Peterson last year, but missed him by one pick. Dough Martin proved to be a solid consolation prize.

21. Matt – Steven Jackson, RB ATL If Jackson was still in St. Louis, Neatock wouldn’t touch him with a ten-foot poll, but now that he’s in Atlanta, everyone is back in love with him. After taking Rodgers in round one, Matt can’t pass up on a back now.

22. Colby – Reggie Bush, RB DET He has a quarterback and three receivers. If there was one pick I can guarantee that someone picks a running back, this is the pick.

23. Don – Trent Richardson, RB CLE (Keeper) Nagging injuries hampered him a bit as a rookie, but look for Richardson to be an outstanding sophomore.

24. Jeff – Robert Griffin III, QB WAS Last year, Jeff wanted to draft RGIII and waited too long to grab him. He won’t make that mistake again. If healthy, he’s still a top-three quarterback.

ROUND THREE

25. Jeff – Rob Gronkowski, TE NE Jeff needs to roll the dice this season to climb out of last place. That means taking a chance on a great player who may start the season on the PUP list. However, if Jeff can walk out of the first six weeks 3-3 or 2-4 and have Gronk waiting for him, watch out.

26. Don – Pierre Garcon, WR WAS He can’t stay healthy, but when he was on the field last year, he was the third most targeted receiver in the league.

27. Colby – Brandon Marshall, WR CHI (Keeper) One thing is clear…Jay Cutler really, really likes throwing to this guy.

28. Matt – Mike Wallace, WR PIT (Keeper) Wallace was a fifth-round pick at best. He’s proven nothing when he was in a good passing offense, so he’s goign to get better in a bad passing offense?

29. Rob M – Tom Brady, QB NE Who is he going to throw to? Who gives a fuck, it’s Tom Brady. You could line up my mom, two ex girlfriends and a legless stripper at the wide out spots and he’d still pass for 250 yards.

30. Molly – Dwayne Bowe, WR KC He was a bust last year, but with Andy Reid taking over the play calling in Kansas City, everyone is back on board the Bowe bus.

31. Rich C – Wes Welker, WR DEN Last year, the two guys who played the slot in Denver last year (Stockley and Tamme) combined for nearly 100 catches.

32. Griff – Danny Amendola, WR NE He’s like Wes Welker, if Welker was a brittal receiver who got hurt when he sneezed. I don’t trust this guy, simply because you can’t trust who the Patriots are going to throw to.

33. Rich B – Reggie Wayne, WR IND Safe. Reliable. Smart. Sometimes that’s the best way to win games.

34. Bob – Lamar Miller, RB MIA He’s proven nothing in the NFL so far, but Bob has never shied away from chasing prospects.

35. Eric – Tony Romo, WR DAL It’s either Romo or wait another couple rounds for Eli or Stafford (who will probably be gone when Eric’s fifth-round pick rolled around).

36. Robio – Matt Ryan, QB ATL (Keeper) He led me to a title once, he can do it again, right?

ROUND FOUR

37. Robio – Le’Veon Bell, RB PIT I prefer Miller, but I don’t see him falling this far. In reality, this is a ballsy pick. By the time we draft, this kid has yet to play a down in the preseason (The Steelers play Monday night).

38. Eric – Antonio Brown, WR PIT Someone needs to step up and be the #1 target in Pittsburgh.

39. Bob – Darren McFadden, RB OAK The good news is the Raiders junked the shitty zone blocking scheme which seemed to kill McFadden. The bad news is, this team is going to be awful and the offensive line is arguable the worst in the NFL.

40. Rich B – Frank Gore, RB SF (Keeper) Safe. Reliable. Smart. Sometimes that’s the best way to win games.

41. Griff – Jason Witten, TE DAL He’s already set with Manning, Spiller, MJD, Bryant and Amendola. It’s time to grab one of the guarantees at the tight end spot.

42. Rich C – DeSean Jackson, WR PHI Do you believe in Chip Kelly’s offense? I’m sure Rich does, although this would give him two Eagles. That’s never good.

43. Molly – Matt Stafford, QB DET I have Molly passing on an elite quarterback in round one. Stafford may not be Drew Brees, but he’s not bad either.

44. Rob M – Chris Ivory, RB NYJ A homer pick? Maybe, but when given the ball in New Orleans, Ivory has actually produced.

45. Matt – Marques Colston, WR NO Not a fan of Colston. All his stats come in bunches and he’s not Brees’ favorite target in the red zone.

46. Colby – Vernon Davis, TE SF This is a faith pick. The fact is, when Alex Smith was replaced in the starting lineup, this guy simply disappeared last year.

47. Don – Jordy Nelson, WR GB He’s hurt, which is why Nelson slides to the back of the fourth round. Good news for Don.

48. Jeff – Montee Ball, RB DEN When I did my first mock draft back two months ago, I had Ball going in the second-round. However, word is he is struggling to understand the concept of pass blocking and is not starting.
