First-Team Dud
QB – Sam Bradford (Matt) While no one was predicting him to be an elite quarterback along side Brees, Rodgers and Brady, he was certainly expected to be able to start for your fantasy team. However, not only has Bradford not improved this season, he’s taken a huge step back. He’s currently ranked 33rd among all quarterbacks, the lowest rated starting arm in the NFL.
RB – Jamaal Charles (Griff) By the end of the season, I’ll remove this guy off this list. I tend not to put players who had season-ending injuries on the dud list. The fact is, a running back having a shitty season, yet still starting, can do more damage than this guy. However, at this point, he’s here.
RB – Chris Johnson (Eric) This is what happens when you hold out. Johnson was First-Team All-Robio two years ago. Last year, he remained in the top-10. Right now, he’s barely in the top-30. He failed to break 100 fantasy points in his first two games and he only has one touchdown so far this season.
WR – Reggie Wayne (Robio) The first wide receiver taken in the second round has been killed by Peyton Manning’s injury. He’s ranked #34 among all receivers, breaking 150 points in a game only once (way back in week one).
WR – Roddy White (Rob M) Coming off a first-team All-Robio season, Masterson passed on a big name quarterback named Aaron Rodgers to take Roddy White. He has not thanked Rob with points. White is the 31st best WR. He’s had only one good game, breaking 100 yards just once, scoring only twice all season.
TE – Antonio Gates (Colby) He was rated the top tight end in football, but he’s played in only one game. I guess last year’s injury issues should have taught us something.
PK – Adam Vinatieri (Bob) He’s only hitting 75% of his kicks, which is not good when you consider the fact that he’s only taken 12 field goal attempts.
DST – Eagles Defense (Molly) Money can buy you happiness, but it can’t buy you a run defense. They’re currently ranked 11th among all D’s. How bad are they? Molly benched them against the Redskins this past week, choosing to play the Cowboys D against the Patriots. Ouch.
Second-Team Dud
QB – Matt Ryan (Don) After the elite quarterbacks (Brady, Rodgers, Vick, etc) and even after the borderline stars (Romo, Schaub) were taken, the teams who had yet to draft a QB had a choice between the next generation of gunslingers. I’m talking about Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Josh Freeman, Joe Flacco and maybe even Kevin Kolb (I would include Bradford, but he was kept). Anyhow, Don went first, taking Matt Ryan in the fourth round. Well, so far Ryan has delivered enough stats to make him the 20th best QB in our league. He’s broken 300 fantasy points only once.
RB – Peyton Hillis (Rich B) Right now, this keeper is borderline bust. He had one good game in week two (247 points), but since then he’s missed a game due to illness and he’s produced just 60 total yards rushing in his last two. Against the Raiders he finished with just six carries and 14 yards.
RB – Rashard Mendenhall (Molly) In his final year with Molly, Mendenhall is doing nothing. Prior to week six, he had broken 100 fantasy points only once all season, never breaking 75 yards rushing. However, he did finally have a breakout game this past week, scoring 306 fantasy points.
WR – Mike Thomas (Bob) He was only a fifth-round pick, but he was expected to be a solid WR2, with WR1 potential. Well, when David Garrard was kicked out of Jacksonville, so did the chances of this guy having a good year. Thomas has fallen to 54th, averaging just 99.7 points per game.
WR – Mario Manningham (Griff) Amazingly. Griff took Manningham in the second, but got Wes Welker one round later. While Welker has owned the league, Manningham is a true bust. He’s not even among the top-60 and that’s not counting the game he missed. He has no more than 59 yards receiving in a game and he has yet to score a touchdown.
TE – Dallas Clark (Matt) Another casualty of Peyton Manning’s neck. He was an elite tight end, but now he’s barely in the top-30. His best game was last week (six catches, 53 yards and a touchdown), but he also had a fumble.
PK – Matt Bryant (Jeff) He was the second kicker taken all the way up in the 12th round, yet he’s barely in the top-20. He hasn’t missed a field goal, but he has only taken nine all season long. In two games this season, he has failed to even have an attempt.
DST – Saints Defense (Rich C) Drafted by Griff, but picked up by Calderon, the Saints are the only defense to have three negative games this year. Yes, three.
Third-Team Dud
QB – Philip Rivers (Griff) In reality, Rivers’ stats haven’t been that tragic, but his name often gets mentioned along side Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, yet in 2011, he’s just 12th in the league.
RB – LeGarrette Blount (Rich C) Blount has shown some brilliance with a 236 and 290-point game, however, he’s averaged just 88 points per game in his three other games, not including the one game he missed.
RB – Shonn Greene (Rich B) Greene is at it again. He’s barely getting enough carries to register and when he does carry the ball, he doesn’t go very far. He is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry. Even in his last two where he’s produced 21 carries each, he’s managed just 157 total yards. Not impressive.
WR – Jacoby Ford (Molly) I only have him on this list because he was taken so high (4th round) by Molly. He’s missed a couple games, but he’s barely produced a stat when he does play. He’s currently ranked #86 among all receivers.
WR – Chad Ochocinco (Matt) He has nine catches in six games. He’s not even in the top-100 among all receivers. Enough said.
TE – Kellen Winslow (Robio) He’s clearly Josh Freeman’s favorite target between the 20’s, but he has zero touchdowns on the season.
PK – Josh Brown (Matt) Drafted by Matt, he’s made only six field goals all season long.
DST – Steelers Defense (Colby) In reality, they’re not that bad. They’re currently ranked 9th among all defenses. However, when you’re the preseason #1 and the first D taken, plus you cost twice as much as the next D, you better be top-three.
