2009 Draft Rewind

ROUND ONE

1. MATT – Frank Gore (RB SF) – Position Rank: #10 He always seems to be on the verge of greatness, but injuries and a lackluster 49ers offense always seems to knock him out of the conversation. However, every year we think he’s struggled, yet he again finished the season as a low end No 1 back.

2. ROB M – L. Tomlinson (RB SD) – Position Rank: #30 It’s official…LT’s rein of terror is over. He sat on Rob’s bench for most of the year, but somehow despite this bust of a pick, Masterson won seven and made it to the post-season. Props for that.

3. GRIFF – Steven Jackson (RB STL) – Position Rank: #5 Talk about talent wasting away. Griff was stacked at running back, so Jackson played in some and sat in others. Just imagine how great he’d be if the Rams got their act together. He had only four touchdowns in the regular season (our regular season), yet still finished 5th. That’s impressive.

4. RICH B – Brandon Jacobs (RB NYG) – Position Rank: #19 We though Burrier should have gone back to the name “Burrier Bruisers” after locking up Jacobs with second-round keeper, Michael Turner, but sadly, both flopped. While no one confused B.J. with a top five back, 19th was not good enough.

5. ERIC – Brian Westbrook (RB PHI) – Position Rank: #54 Wow, Eric really can’t pick running backs in the first round. He should consider just surrendering the pick, or just going wide receivers. Just look at his history: (2001) Eddie George. His ranking is unknown, but he never started after week one for E. (2002) Marshall Faulk. He was the top pick, but finished only 16th among backs. (2003) Rick Williams. He was the second pick in the draft, but only finished ninth, making Ricky Eric’s best first-round RB. (2005) Julius Jones. He finished 20th, failing to rush for 1,000 yards. (2006). LaMont Jordan. He was the flop of the year, failing to rush for 500 yards after hitting 1,500 the year before. (2007) Shaun Alexander. He fell to 38th among backs. (2008) Larry Fitzgerald. Eric passed on a RB and went with Larry Fitzgerald. He finished No 1.

6. JEFF – Randy Moss (WR NE) – Position Rank: #1 Randy was a big reason why Jeff stormed out of the gates and was one of the top teams in the league, earning “All-Robio” for the fourth time in 11 seasons. Sadly, his -15 game in week 14 was the main reason why Jeff went home early in the post-season, losing to Calderon by only 60 points.

7. BOB – Andre Johnson (WR HOU) – Position Rank: #4 He remained a stud pair of hands, but was even more impressive in the post-season, grabbing 20 balls for nearly 400 yards, helping Bob to the semis.

8. RICH C – Larry Fitzgerald (WR ARI) – Position Rank #3 He had a slow start, but still remained one of the best in the league. Was one of the few consistent players for Calderon, along with Brees and Gates. He finished 2nd team All-Robio.

9. COLBY – Reggie Wayne (WR IND) – Position Rank: #2 Wayne was part of the best 1-2 combo in the league (with Manning) and was a big reason why Colby could even have playoff dreams up until the final week, despite not having a running game all season long.

10. MOLLY – Clinton Portis (RB WAS) KEEPER – Position Rank: #45 Those injuries are starting to finally cost Portis, but what’s becoming all-to-common in Robioland, Molly was able to replace him with another late great pick with Mendenhall.

11. ROBIO – Marion Barber (RB DAL) – Position Rank: #25 He’s never really taken off since becoming a starter and if Dallas had any sense, they’d start Felix Jones. Of course if I had any sense, I wouldn’t draft Barber in the first round.

12. DON – Maurice Jones-Drew (RB JAX) KEEPER – Position Rank: #2 A great pick in 2008 turns into a even greater keeper in 2009. He rolled through the season and earns his first “All-Robio” award. Sadly, he failed to hit 200 in his last four games, including the quarterfinals, where Don’s season ended.

ROUND TWO

13. DON – Ryan Grant (RB GB) – Position Rank: #11 He actually took a while to get going, but by the end of the season, Grant was Don’s best back. If Don doesn’t keep him, he should be a first-round pick in 2010 after improving his RB rankings 12 spots from 2008.

14.  ROB M – Calvin Johnson (WR DET) – Position Rank: #22 Masterson and Murray swapped second and third round picks. Masterson went looking for an elite receiver and got one, but injuries and a rookie quarterback derailed Johnson’s productivity. Luckily for Rob, he always had Marshall and (free agent pick up) Sidney Rice, so Johnson spent most of the back-half of the season on Rob’s bench.

15. MOLLY – Marques Colston (WR NO) – Position Rank: #12 In all honestly, I expected better, but Brees’ knack for spreading the ball around actually hurt Colston’s numbers. Having said that, Colston still was a low-end No 1 receiver and along with Miles Austin, gave Molly the second-best receiving due in the league.

16. COLBY – Peyton Manning (QB IND) – Position Rank: #3 Colby had a game-plan heading into the draft and like I already said once, it was a good game plan. He drafted the best available player, ignoring position needs. Manning was No 1 for almost the entire season, falling off a bit in the final three weeks.

17. RICH C – Dwayne Bowe (WR KC) – Position Rank: #45 The Chiefs were just awful this season and Bowe took a major step back. He barely caught any passes when healthy, before finally checking out early around mid-season.

18. BOB – Kevin Smith (RB DET) – Position Rank: #15 Just imagine if he was on the Saints or the Colts, Kevin Smith would be a top-five back. Yet, against a terrible Lions’ O-line, he still manages to be a top-end No 2 back, thanks to his combination of rushing and receiving yards. Sadly though, he destroyed his knee in the quarterfinals and won’t sniff a football field again until next August.

19. JEFF – Vincent Jackson (WR SD) – Position Rank: #10 For a long time, Jackson was one of the best receivers in football, giving Jeff a brutal 1-2 combo at receiver (with Moss). However, his numbers dipped at the end of the season, helping Jeff lose the division title. He still finished top 10 though, giving Greenblatt the No 1 WR duo.

20. ERIC – Ronnie Brown (RB MIA) – Position Rank: #21 Despite sharing the ball, Brown was a top-8 back for most of the season, two years removed from his ACL injury. However, another season-ending injury derailed his season. Of course the injury was a blessing for Eric. He also had Ricky Williams who suddenly was getting the ball 20+ times a game.

21. RICH B – Michael Turner (RB ATL) KEEPER – Position Rank: #13 Burrier started 0-4 this season. In those four weeks, Turner was awful, hitting 100 fantasy points only once. Over the next six weeks, Rich went 4-2, thanks to Turner who hit 300+ three times, including one 440-pt game. Then he got hurt and played in only one more game. Rich would lose his next five games and miss the post-season.

22. GRIFF – Chad Ochocinco (WR CIN) – Position Rank: #15 Chad Johnson/Ochocinco bounced back after a awful 2008 season (he finished 51st among receivers). He was a low-end No 1 for most of the season, before sliding a bit at the end. He’s no longer ‘All-Robio’ material, but he’s a solid No 2 at best.

23. ROBIO – Philip Rivers (QB SD) – Position Rank: #5 For the second time, Bob rode a quarterback I drafted in the second round (Culpepper in 2004) deep into the post-season. However, Rivers failed to take it all the way.

24. MATT – Adrian Peterson (RB MIN) – Position Rank: #4 While he didn’t lock down first-team All-Robio (again), he became only the second running back (and first in the keeper era) to lead the same team (Matt) to two titles. Now that’s what you call a great keeper.

ROUND THREE

25. MATT – DeSean Jackson (WR PHI) – Position Rank: #11 Many thought Jackson would last to at least the 4th round, but the Philly kid had other ideas. DeSean was a star a one of the top reasons for Matt’s dominance. He’s only not top-five because he missed a couple games.

26. ROBIO – Terrell Owens (WR BUF) – Position Rank: #24 Truly awful pick. His ugly mug will be the face of my terrible 2-11 season. He was the leader of the worst receiving core in league history (my receivers failed seven times to score a single point in a game).

27. GRIFF – Thomas Jones (RB NYJ) – Position Rank: #8 Some one, some day will have to explain to me the mystery of Thomas Jones. How does this guy just keep chugging along? From 2005-2007, he was a decent No 2 back, but last year he finished 5th and this year he was 8th.

28. RICH B – Roy E. Williams (WR DAL) – Position Rank: #38 Someone had to step up and be a star in Dallas, but Burrier picked the wrong guy. Let’s face it, he’s too soft to be elite. At least Rich didn’t waste three draft picks on this guy like Jerry Jones.

29. ERIC – Joseph Addai (RB IND) – Position Rank: #9 Every year, I stick in a player’s ranking and there is always one players rankings I can’t believe when I see it. The Colts have had one of the worst running games all season, yet here is Addai, 9th in the league, a year removed from finishing 42nd…and he did it splitting carries with Donald Brown for most of the season. Someone smarter than me explain that.

30.  JEFF – Tom Brady (QB NE) KEEPER – Position Rank: #4 Another great year for Brady, another season with no title. Is Tom Brady becoming the Charles Barkley/Dan Marino of Robioland football?

31. BOB – Anquan Boldin (WR ARI) KEEPER – Position Rank: #25 He just never seemed engaged this season, often finishing third or fourth on the team in catches in any given game. When you go to keep a WR in the third round, you’re looking for something better than a low-end No 2.

32. RICH C – Drew Brees (QB NO) KEEPER – Position Rank: #1 He didn’t win back-to-back MVP awards, but that had more to with Chris Johnson taking it from him. However, he did become the second QB to win “All-Robio” in back-to-back seasons.

33. COLBY – Larry Johnson (RB KC) – Position Rank: #56 Ouch. What might be the most amazing thing in 2009, Colby was actually able to trade him to someone (Colby gave LJ and Driver to Burrier for Moreno and Vernon Davis). Could be worst pick of the year, but since he did trade him, it’s hard to say that anymore.

34. MOLLY – Kurt Warner (QB ARI) – Position Rank: #10 One would have to believe that Warner’s best days are behind him, but then you see what he did against the Packers in the post-season and you think, I’ll take him next year.

35. ROB M – Donovan McNabb (PHI) – Position Rank: #12 With so many weapons and with the Eagles putting up so many points, am I the only person shocked to learn that McNabb was only the 12th best fantasy QB?

36. DON – Tony Romo (QB DAL) – Position Rank: #8 Romo was really hit or miss for a while, putting up 150 one week, followed by 450 the next. Unfortunately for Don, he seemed to guess wrong too often.

ROUND FOUR

37. T. Houshmandzadeh (WR SEA) – Position Rank: #35 Shocking, a wide receiver switches team and does nothing.

38. ROBIO – Jonathan Stewart (RB CAR) – Position Rank: #22 Talk about a stupid fucking pick. God I made some awful decisions this season. There was no good reason to use the 4th and 5th picks on both Panthers running backs.

39.  MOLLY – Anthony Gonzalez (WR IND) – Position Rank: #162 He went down in week one and never caught a ball. Not a bad pick, just a bad break.

40.  COLBY – Eddie Royal (WR DEN) – Position Rank: #86 There are sophomore slumps and then there is Eddie Royal in 2009. Could he be the next Michael Clayton (from the Bucs)?

41. RICH C – Antonio Gates (TE SD) – Position Rank #1 I feel like Calderon has had Gates a lot, yet of Gates’ three “All-Robio” seasons, this was the first time he was on Rich’s team.

42. BOB – Marshawn Lynch (RB BUF) – Position Rank: #49 He never seem to get on track after returning from the suspension and was the second best back on the Bills. He was traded away to Rob with Steve Smith for Philip Rivers.

43. JEFF – Cedric Benson (RB CIN) – Position Rank: #12 Benson turned out to be one of the top-four picks in the draft this year. Until he got hurt late in the season, he made up a monster three-headed monster for Jeff of Brady, Benson and Moss.

44. ERIC – Steve Smith (WR CAR) KEEPER – Position Rank: #27 Smith looked like a solid keeper heading into 2009, but the Panthers passing game sucked ass and Smith’s numbers dropped. In fact, he’s not even the best Steve Smith anymore.

45. RICH B – Moreno Knowshon (RB DEN) – Position Rank: #24 He split time with Buckhalter, before being shipped off to Colby. He did have a couple good games, but if you were starting him, you had issues. However, he looks like a solid keeper with a good future in this league.

46. GRIFF – Santonio Holmes (WR PIT) – Position Rank: #13 The Steelers, despite all their struggles, produced two top-14 receivers. While Holmes may never be elite, he remained a solid No 2, helping lead Griff.

47.  ROB M – Darren McFadden (RB OAK) KEEPER – Position Rank: #68 Is this guy’s career dead? Two seasons and he’s done absolutely nothing in Oakland. Worse yet, Rob wasted a No 3 pick on him last year and a No 4 pick on him this year.

48. MATT – Tony Gonzalez (TE ATL) – Position Rank: #4 A new home, same results.

ROUND FIVE

49. MATT – Willie Parker (RB PIT) – Position Rank: #66 It looked like a bad pick right away, since Matt barely had much money to spend thanks to great keepers. In the end, it was a terrible pick. Parker was once of the best backs in fantasy football, but in ’09, he was hurt again and has been replaced in the Steelers backfield. He sat on Matt’s bench, before being traded to Burrier in week seven, who eventually cut him.

50. ROB M – Ray Rice (RB BAL) – Position Rank: #3 Just imagine how good Matt could have been if he picked Rice instead of Parker. Rob decided not to keep Rice, but instead picked him here in the fifth. The decision was gold, as Rice had an amazing year, finishing second team “All-Robio” in only his second year.

51. GRIFF – Roddy White (WR ATL) KEEPER – Position Rank: #9 In reality, it seemed like White was having a bad year, but he finished 9th among WR…a bit shocking considering he only broke 200 three times. Despite all this, White split time with Ochocinco and S. Holmes for Griff.

52. RICH B – Carson Palmer (QB CIN) – Position Rank: #13 He struggled to be 100% healthy all season, but still had a decent year. While he only finished 13th, he was key to Burrier’s mid-season winning streak.

53. ERIC – Jay Cutler (QB CHI) – Position Rank: #17 Bust. In fact, the biggest quarterback bust of the year. For the season he had only 19 touchdowns to 25 interceptions. He was eventually benched by Eric for Brett Favre, who led him to an improbable playoff run.

54. JEFF – Tim Hightower (RB ARI) – Position Rank: #18 Desperate for running backs, Jeff grabbed his two starting backs in the fourth and fifth round. Benson paid off big time, while Hightower paid off for a bit. Hightower was a consistent No 2 back, but that’s all Jeff needed, riding Brady/Moss/Benson for his big digits.

55.  BOB – Beanie Wells (RB ARI) – Position Rank: #36 Bob shocked the world by taking another Cardinals backs one pick behind another Cardinals back. Wells was unable to pass up Hightower until the post-season (thanks mostly to a fumbling problem). However, he’s a good keeper option in 2009.

56. RICH C – Donald Brown (RB IND) – Position Rank: #48 He was suppose to supplant Addai, but it just didn’t happen. He had some great runs and some good games, but remained a limited backup until he got hurt at the end of the year.

57. COLBY – Steelers (DST PIT) – Position Rank: #10 It should never be a shock to see the first defense taken fail to live up to the hype. If you go back and read the past drafts, it happens quite often. The Steelers struggled and were splitting time for Colby with the Broncos by seasons end.

58. MOLLY – Giants (DST NYG) – Position Rank: #13 After five weeks, the G-Men looked like one of the best D’s ever in Robioland. They hit 200+ four times (including a 383-pt game). Molly was 4-1. After that, they fell apart, failing to hit 200 ever again. Molly finished 1-7.

59. ROBIO – DeAngelo Williams (RB CAR) KEEPER – Position Rank: #7 While he never dominated, he still had a great year and was the lone highlight for a sad Robio season. He will stay another great keeper in 2010.

60. DON – Ravens (DST BAL) They just never seemed like themselves this season, much like a lot of the top defenses. Of the three top DST’s drafted, the Ravens did the best at 7th.

ROUND SIX

61. DON – Reggie Bush (RB NO) – Position Rank: #37 You have to think his days in New Orleans are numbered? His salary takes up too much space to justify the 37th best RB.

62. ROBIO – Greg Olsen (TE CHI) – Position Rank: #12 I thought he would step up to elite status. I was wrong.

63. MOLLY – Matt Forte (RB CHI) KEEPER – Position Rank: #16 While finishing 16th isn’t bad, Forte was ‘All-Robio’ his rookie year. A 14-spot fall off is borderline bust and a big reason why Molly missed the post-season.

64. COLBY – Dustin Keller (TE NYJ) – Position Rank: #18 I thought Olsen was a disappointment, but at least I didn’t draft Keller. He was the biggest TE disappointment. Colby cut him and was able to trade for Vernon Davis, the second best TE in football.

65. RICH C – Braylon Edwards (WR CLE) – Position Rank: #48 He stunk it up again in Cleveland, so Caldron cut him. He was traded to the Jets and had a decent first game. Matt spent $70 on him. He caught 10 balls and one touchdown in five games for Matt. That’s $7 for each ball caught.

66. BOB – Chris Cooley (TE WAS) – Position Rank: #24 He was on his way to being a top-five tight end, but an injury ended his season. While Bob would end up winning without him, Castrone was never really able to fill that tight end spot again.

67. JEFF – Vikings (DST MIN) – Position Rank: #7 While finishing 7th doesn’t seem like much, the Vikes D were one of the most consistent D’s this season.

68. ERIC – Kellen Winslow (TE TB) – Position Rank: #6 Despite a horrid offense and three bad quarterbacks, Winslow surprisingly did well, finished 6th. I thought his numbers would have suffered more.

69. RICH B – Devin Hester (WR CHI) – Position Rank: #33 Burrier had one of the worst receiving cores at the beginning of the season. Reason being, this was his best receiver he picked. What’s that tell you?

70. GRIFF – Eagles (DST PHI) – Position Rank: #2 He refused to reach too early for a defense, but didn’t wait too long. He nailed it, grabbing a Eagles defense that knew how to force a turnover.

71. ROB M – Pierre Thomas (RB NO) KEEPER – Position Rank: #17 Injuries and sharing the ball with Mike Bell eliminated any shot of being a No 1 back. However, despite the fact Rob used four of his first six picks on running backs, Thomas was still the second best one and started once he got healthy.

72. MATT – Lee Evans (WR BUF) – Position Rank: #43 He was cut quickly and was actually starting for Don in the post-season. Now you see why Don lost in the quarters.

ROUND SEVEN

73. MATT – Jets (DST NYJ) – Position Rank: #4 Matt could do no wrong in this draft. With the exception of Willie Parker, all of Matt’s first seven picks turned into gold, including a surprise Jets defense.

74. ROB M – Hines Ward (WR PIT) – Position Rank: #14 For a few weeks, he was still the No 1 receiver option in the Steelers and helped Rob to his best start in his career, while he waited patiently for Marshall to get his act together. As soon as B.M. gathered himself, Ward was a great bench option for Masterson.

75. GRIFF – Ernest Graham (RB – TB) – Postion Rank: #88 Griff had a super draft, even if we didn’t appreciate it at the time, but this pick was not one of those good ones. Not even Griff can be perfect.

76. RICH B – Ted Ginn. Jr. (WR MIA) – Position Rank: #77 Among his first seven picks, Rich took three receivers, Roy Williams, D. Hester and Ted Ginn. They finished 38th, 33rd and 77th. It’s tough to make the playoffs when you go 0-3 in receiver picks.

77. ERIC – Lance Moore (WR NO) KEEPER – Position Rank: #107 The third straight bust. The difference here though is the fact that Moore was a keeper on the league’s best offense. No excuses.

78. JEFF – Derrick Mason (WR BAL) – Position Rank: #21 A solid backup for Jeff, who got some playing time on Moss and Jackson’s bye-weeks.

79. BOB – Chris Johnson (RB TEN) KEEPER – Position Rank: #1 Johnson could turn into the greatest pick in league history. However, Bob needs to get a championship out of him if he really wants that honor with no argument. This season, Johnson was the league MVP.

80. RICH C – Julius Jones (RB SEA) – Position Rank: #35 Bob “keeps” Chris Johnson with the 79th pick and Calderon gets Julius Jones. Sometimes life just isn’t fair. Actually, Jones had a good beginning to the season, just like last year. But like last year, he fell apart.

81.  COLBY – Donald Driver (WR GB) – Position Rank: #16 Driver actually got his groove back and was a top-10 receiver early. Colby traded him and was able to land two possible keepers, Moreno and Vernon Davis.

82. MOLLY – Earl Bennett (WR CHI) – Position Rank: #42 We all thought someone would step up in Chicago and become a No 1 receiver. We were wrong.

83. ROBIO – Antonio Bryant (WR TB) KEEPER – Position Rank: #47 Every expert predicted bust. I didn’t listen. I should have. Who should I have kept instead? How about Rashard Mendenhall?

84. DON – Jerricho Cotchery (WR NYJ) – Position Rank: #31 In reality, no one expected any Jet receiver with a rookie QB to be worthy of anything.

ROUND EIGHT

85. DON – Jon Carlson (TE SEA) – Position Rank: #15 Why wasn’t he the bust of the year for a tight ends? Because Don waited until the 8th round and didn’t waste an early pick on him.

86. ROBIO – Domanick Hixon (WR NYG) – Position Rank: #132 I wasted a 8th round pick on the fifth best receiver on the Giants. Jesus I suck.

87. MOLLY – Ahmad Bradshaw (RB NYG) – Position Rank: #33 He never turned into another D. Ward.

88. COLBY – Leon Washington (RB NYJ) – Position Rank: #57 Masterson predicted big things. He was wrong. He never pushed ahead of Thomas Jones and then got knocked out for the season.

89. RICH C – Bernard Berrian (WR MIN) – Position Rank: #51 Someone stepped up and became a elite receiver in Minnesota. Too bad for Calderon, it wasn’t Berrian, it was Rice.

90. BOB – Steve Smith (WR NYG) – Position Rank: #8 Stud. His first month of football was amazing, but more importantly, he help bring Bob a top-five QB in a trade. He should be a decent keeper for me for the next two years.

91. JEFF – Jamal Lewis (RB BAL) – Position Rank: #46 His career, if it is not over, it should be.

92. ERIC – Titans (DST TEN) – Position Rank: #26 Wow, talk about a bust. Sadly for Eric, he rode the Titans D for too long and it cost him W’s. He eventually cut them and picked up one of the league’s best, the Saints.

93. RICH B – Patriots (DST NE) – Position Rank: #12 Too old to be an effective D.

94. GRIFF – Matt Schaub (QB HOU) – Position Rank: #7 He still throws too many picks, but he knows how to put up big numbers and should be considered one of the elite arms in fantasy.

95. ROB M – Chargers (DST SD) – Position Rank: #8 They struggled early, but got their act together late. Masterson cut them, but Jeff picked them up and rotated the Chargers with the Vikings.

96. MATT – LenDale White (RB TEN) – Position Rank: #73 Chris Johnson is just too good to sit and made White worthless. He was traded to Jeff early and was eventually cut.

ROUND NINE

97. MATT – Torry Holt (WR JAX) – Position Rank: #50 Career over. If Matt wants him in the 12th round next year, he’ll be there.

98. ROB M – Buccaneers (DST TB) – Position Rank: #27 Masterson goes back-to-back defense, but neither would finish the season on his roster.

99. GRIFF – Donnie Avery (WR STL) – Position Rank: #44 You can’t be a good receiver if you have no quarterbacks.

100. RICH B – Darren Sproles (RB SD) – Position Rank: #28 Tomlinson was taken with the second pick in the draft. He finished 30th. Sproles was taken 98 picks later and finished two spots ahead of LT.

101. JEFF – Willie McGahee (RB BAL) – Position Rank: #40 He started off fine, stealing touchdowns from Rice and actually started a couple games for Jeff. Eventually though, Rice started getting the ball at the goal line and McGahee became just an average backup.

102. ERIC – L. Coles (WR CIN) – Position Rank: #62 Chris Henry died and still had a better year than Coles.

103. BOB – Matt Cassell (QB KC) – Position Rank: #22 Bob waited nine rounds to draft a quarterback. Was it a smart move? Sure he landed Philip Rivers, but he had to give up (WR) Steve Smith to get him.

104. RICH B – LeSean McCoy (RB PHI) – Position Rank: #29 Ignoring the rankings, Westbrook went down and McCoy became a decent starter, eventually becoming Calderon’s top running back.

105. COLBY – Santana Moss (WR WAS) – Position Rank: #37 Someone always drafts him and that person always cuts him. Then someone always picks him up (Eric) and that person always benches him. It’s tradition mostly.

106. MOLLY – R. Mendenhall (RB PIT) – Position Rank: #14 It was a bad season for Molly, but this could turn into a great pick. She almost has to keep him over Matt Forte in the 6th.

107.  ROBIO – Jerome Harrison (RB CLE) – Position Rank: #51 He had a 300-yard, three touchdown game. Too bad it was in the post-season and I wasn’t in and it happened weeks after I cut him.

108.  Greg Jennings (WR GB) KEEPER – Position Rank: #20 Jennings was suppose to be one of the best keepers in 2009, but he really was disappointing this season. He wasn’t even the best option on his own team (Driver finished 16th).

ROUND TEN

109. DON – Percy Harvin (WR MIN) – Position Rank: #18 Great pick. He started off as a practice player, but became Don’s best receiver. Can he get better or is mid-range No 2 WR his peak?

110. ROBIO – Bears (DST CHI) – Position Rank: #17 Hey look, another Robio pick comes up flat. Worse draft ever?

111. MOLLY – Joe Flacco (QB BAL) – Position Rank: #16 For a moment, he looked like the best QB in the league, but quickly fell back to earth after a month.

112. COLBY – Felix Jones (RB DAL) KEEPER – Position Rank: #47 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, he’s the best back in Dallas, even if they don’t realize it. If Colby is patient, he’s got him for two more years if he wants him.

113. RICH C – Steve Slaton (RB HOU) KEEPER – Position Rank: #23 It’s hard to call a 10th round pick, even if he was a keeper, a major bust, but he was. He was penciled in as Calderon’s starter from day one and when he fumbled his starting job away and then got hurt, Rich had to spend the entire season looking for a replacement. In fact, Rich’s final day roster consisted of eight running backs.

114. BOB – Fred Jackson (RB BUF) – Position Rank: #20 A decent pick, especially for the first month. But when Lynch came back, he stole too many carries away. When Bob needed a back in the semis, Jackson was on the pine.

115. JEFF – Bills (DST BUF) KEEPER – Position Rank: #20 Bad keeper. He knows it. No reason to rip him.

116. ERIC – Ricky Williams (RB MIA) – Position Rank: #6 If you want to pinpoint one pick that put Eric in the post-season, look no further than the 10th round. At first Williams was just a guy who stole too many carries from Ronnie Brown, Eric’s top back. But when Brown went down, it allowed Williams to become a No 1 guy and Eric never looked back.

117. RICH B – Brent Celek (TE PHI) – Position Rank: #5 Finally, a good pick for Burrier. Celek was the true lone bright spot on a bad team. Of all the guys who we expected to become elite tight ends (Olson, Carlson, Keller), Celek was the only one who did.

118. GRIFF – Shonn Greene (RB NYJ) – Position Rank: #64 At third-string, he was Thomas Jones’ insurance policy, but a great late-season run has set him up nicely for 2009, maybe as a keeper.

119. ROB M – Eli Manning (QB NYG) – Position Rank: #11 For a few games, he looked great and helped Rob to his solid 5-1 start. However he slumped and backed up McNabb for the rest of the season.

120. MATT – Aaron Rogers (QB GB) KEEPER – Position Rank: #2 It’s amazing how Matt’s 2009 greatness had so much to do with great picks the past two years. Setting Peterson aside, Matt had an elite QB in the 10th round (and he gets him for one more year).

ROUND ELEVEN

121. MATT – Cowboys (DST DAL) – Postion Rank: #15 I’m still shocked Matt grabbed a Cowboys player (or defense). He cut them soon after.

122. ROB M – Brandon Marshall (WR DEN) – Position Rank: #17 It looked bad for a while, but Marshall would eventually return to his No 1 status. However, after three seasons, Marshall wraps up his career with Rob (at least as the 11th pick) with a record of 16-24.

123. GRIFF – Ben Roethlisberger (QB PIT) – Position Rank: #9 Another late-round grab but Griff. Big Ben started a handful for Griff, but mostly he backed up Schaub. I have a feeling people are going to stop overlooking Roethlisberger after this season.

124. RICH B – Glen Coffee (RB SF) – Position Rank: #71 Rich stole Matt’s insurance policy, but later traded it to him (along with Chambers) for Avery and Parker. So basically, no one got anything for nothing.

125. ERIC – Redskins (DST WAS) – Position Rank: #21 Flop flop, fizz, fizz…oh what a waste of a pick it is.

126.  JEFF – Jerious Norwood (RB ATL) – Position Rank: #74 He could have been important at the end when Turner went out. Too bad he was already out, getting hurt, falling to third string.

127. BOB – Kyle Orton (QB DEN) – Position Rank: #18 Surprisingly he put up some decent numbers early, but soon the interceptions came and his numbers sank.

128. RICH C – Michael Bush (RB OAK) – Position Rank: #52 Even though we all knew the Raiders offense would be one of the worst, Calderon still used a pick on their third-string running back. You know what, with McFadden and Fargas injury history’s, you never know.

129. COLBY – Jeremy Maclin (WR PHI) – Position Rank: #34 He was a practice player all season long, until that last week. He put up a few points, but not enough to land Colby in the post-season. Will he regret losing that extra year of eligibility?

130.  MOLLY – Miles Austin (WR DAL) – Position Rank: #5 A ton of late great picks in 2009 and Austin might be one of the best. He clearly is Romo’s favorite target and will be a solid keeper for two more seasons.

131. ROBIO – Steve Breaston (WR ARI) – Position Rank: #36 Maybe if Boldin wasn’t there, but Boldin was, so another bad pick.

132. DON – Patrick Crayton (WR DAL) – Position Rank: #53 Three Dallas receivers were taken, but the only one that paid off was the one taken two picks earlier.

ROUND TWELVE

133. DON – Chris Henry (WR CIN) – Position Rank: #85 This might be the first fantasy player to die during the season. Don has all the fun.

134. ROBIO – Nate Burleson (WR SEA) – Position Rank: #29 Next.

135. MOLLY – LeRon McClain (RB BAL) – Position Rank: #67 No reason to ever draft a full back.

136. COLBY – Chester Taylor (RB MIN) – Position Rank: #39 Continues to steal just enough carries to be annoying to AP owners. In reality, he’d be a solid back on any other team.

137. RICH C – Panthers (DST CAR) – Position Rank: #14 Hell, I thought they were worse than their number 14th ranking.

138. BOB – Darruis Heyward-Bey (WR OAK) – Position Rank: #106 If numbers are the only thing that matter, then this was one of the worst picks in the draft and just like in real life, Crabtree should have gone first.

139. JEFF – Stephen Gostkowski (PK NE) – Position Rank: #8 At least he wasn’t taken in the seventh round like last year. That still had to be the worst pick ever.

140. ERIC – Rob Bironas (PK TEN) – Position Rank: #7 He’s got a great first name.

141.  RICH B – Chris Chambers (WR KC) – Position Rank: #46 Remember that one four-game stretch a few years back where he just dominated? That was a long time ago.

142. GRIFF – Davone Bess (WR MIA) – Position Rank: #58 Unless he can run the wildcat, no reason to ever take a Dolphins player.

143. ROB M – Michael Crabtree (WR SF) – Position Rank: #69 He held out for way too long, but once he got in, he was a low-end No 2 WR. Could become another great Category Three wide receiver for Masterson.

144. MATT – Greg Jones (RB JAX) – Position Rank: #126 Matt steals Don’s insurance…payback for Burrier and Calderon stealing his insurance policies.

ROUND THIRTEEN

145. MATT – Wes Welker (WR NE) KEEPER – Position Rank: #6 Matt can make a serious argument for Wes Welker being the greatest pick in league history. He’s been top-10 three straight years.

146. ROB M – Kenny Britt (WR TEN) – Position Rank: #41 Every year, many Titans receivers get taken and every year, none pan out, although Britt had a decent game or two, so there is hope for the rookie.

147. GRIFF – Jason Witten (TE DAL) KEEPER – Position Rank: #7 His numbers dipped a little and he actually split time on Griff’s roster with Heath Miller. He’ll return back to the pot in 2009.

148. RICH B – Mark Sanchez (QB NYJ) – Position Rank: #24 He actually started one game for Rich and in that one game, he scored 399 points, leading Burrier to a win over me. Still, Sanchez probably should have been redshirted.

149. ERIC – Brett Favre (QB MIN) – Position Rank: #5 Favre shocked us all and was one of the best arms in football. As soon as Eric placed him in his starting lineup, he started winning.

150. JEFF – Owen Daniels (TE HOU) KEEPER – Position Rank: #8 He simply was a stud. He was the league’s top tight end until he was knocked out for the season. Jeff spent the whole second of the season trying to fill the void.

151. BOB – Derrick Ward (RB TB)  KEEPER – Position Rank: #50 He leaves a good Giants team to go to the exact thing he did in Tampa, back someone up, splitting carries. At least with the G-Men he was a low-end No 2 back.

152.  RICH C – Matthew Stafford (QB DET) – Position Rank: #21 He had a few impressive moments and could turn into an excellent rookie redshirt. Calderon has three years with the kid, although he won’t be ready to start in 2010.

153. COLBY – Trent Edwards (QB BUF) – Position Rank: #30 Bill Walsh once said Trent Edwards wa the next “Joe Montana.” He really did. Now Walsh is dead and can’t see what a dumb comparison he made.

154. MOLLY – Dallas Clark (TE IND) – Position Rank: #3 Round 13 for the past three years was the round of keeper tight ends. Witten, Daniels and Clark have all been kept since 2007. I’d probably argue that Clark was the best of the three, slightly ahead of Witten, with Daniels coming in third place.

155. ROBIO – Dolphins (DST MIA) – Position Rank: #23 There was a time when the Fins D was good. This was not that time.

156. DON – Jason Elam (PK ATL) – Position Rank: #28 Reason number 42 why you don’t jump early on kickers.

ROUND FOURTEEN

157. DON – Chad Pennington (QB MIA) KEEPER – Position Rank: #49 His career…yeah, that’s over.

158. ROBIO – Mason Crosby (PK GB) – Position Rank: #11 I had no choice but to take a kicker, since I had Matt Ryan in the 15th. I ended up cutting Crosby for David Akers, who finished first-team “All-Robio.” You mean I actually made a smart decision?

159. MOLLY – Colts (DST IND) – Position Rank: #11 They were top-six early on, but to fill up some bye spots, Molly had to let the Colts D go. Masterson picked them up the following day.

160. COLBY – Ryan Longwell (PK MIN) – Position Rank: #3 Now here’s something you don’t see every day. Colby drafted Ryan Longwell and Ryan Longwell ended the season on Colby’s roster.

161. RICH C – Nate Kaeding (PK SD) – Position Rank: #2 He was one of the best keepers, but Rich ended up with Dan Carpenter and Kaeding moved on to a division winner, Bob.

162. BOB – Packers (DST GB) – Position Rank: #1 Miles Austin and Jamaal Charles will probably battle for best Category Three pick, but the Packers should be included in that conversation. They were the No 1 defense in 2009. Of course Bob can blame their -43 point performance in the semis for his season ending early. Remember, he lost to Griff by 88.

163. JEFF – Jason Campbell (QB WAS) – Position Rank: #14 I can’t believe he actually finished 14th among quarterbacks. He was terrible.

164. ERIC – Nate Washington (WR TEN) – Position Rank: #54 A new home, same results.

165. RICH B – Michael Vick (QB PHI) – Position Rank: #44 Who let the dogs out? Not Andy Reid who manage to occasionally throw Vick a bone with a WildCat from time to time.

166. GRIFF – Robbie Gould (PK CHI) – Position Rank: #14 It’s hard to get field goal attempts when your quarterback is throwing an interception every other play.

167. ROB M – Visanthe Shiancoe (TE MIN) – Position Rank: #10 Like so many of Brett’s tight ends…they don’t get a ton of yards, but plenty of touchdowns.

168. MATT – Hakeem Nicks (WR NYG) – Position Rank: #32 Too many drops and with Smith and Manningham playing so well, will he ever start for the G-Men?

ROUND FIFTEEN

169. MATT – David Akers (PK PHI) – Position Rank: #1 He was the best kicker in football and could have made Matt even better than he already was, but he cut him for Matt Prater and Akers earned “All-Robio” on a last place team instead.

170. ROB M – Neil Rackers (PK ARI) – Position Rank: #12 Did you see that shank kick in the playoffs? I don’t really care if you did, I just needed something to write.

171. GRIFF – Jamaal Charles (RB KC) – Position Rank: #34 He didn’t start until week nine, but Colby kept him all season long anyway. It paid off. He rushed for 368 points in the quarters and 346 in the semis, before being benched in the finals for Harrison.

172. RICH B – Nick Folk (PK DAL) – Position Rank: #24 Man, this guy sucked. He was cut by the time Burrier’s season ended.

173. ERIC – Kevin Walter (WR HOU) – Position Rank: #56 He was suppose to be a solid No 2 WR along time elite WR, Andre Johnson. Instead, he wasn’t even worth a spot on Eric’s bench.

174.  JEFF – Kelley Washington (WR BAL) – Position Rank: #65 When will Jeff give up on this guy?

175. BOB – Kris Brown (PK HOU) – Position Rank: #25 Who cares…he was cut so Bob could grab No 2 PK, Kaeding.

176. RICH C – James Davis (RB CLE) – Position Rank: #142 Sorry Calderon, you took the wrong backup Cleveland running back. Just imagine if you landed Harrison and had him in that semi-finals game.

177. COLBY – Josh Morgan (WR SF) – Position Rank: #63 Once Crabtree signed, Morgan faded. Actually, he faded the second the season started.

178. MOLLY – Jeff Reed (PK PIT) – Position Rank: #18 I think he wants to go into politics after football. I just thought that was interesting.

179. ROBIO – Matt Ryan (QB ATL) KEEPER – Position Rank: #19 After a fine rookie season, he slumped in year two and again I’m left asking myself, can I reply on him to start for me next year?

180.  DON – Maurice Morris (RB DET) – Position Rank: #69 In reality, he was actually a fine playoff running back. Too bad Don’s season was over and Morris was cut long ago.

BEST FREE AGENT PICK UPS

1. Miles Austin, WR (DAL) — Molly Molly actually drafted Austin, but cut him twice, including week one. She picked him up after his monster week (600 points) against KC. She kept him and started him for the rest of the season (he finished 5th overall). Next year, there will be changes made so if you cut a player you drafted, you won’t be able to keep him where you drafted him.

2. Sidney Rice, WR (MIN) — Rob M I picked up Rice in week five and despite an average game (116) I cut him. Masterson jumped on him and he proceeded to hit 340 points. Rice would become one of the best pair of hands in the league, finishing 7th among WR’s.

3. Mike Sims-Walker, WR (JAX) — Rich C Few had ever heard of the guy when Rich suddenly grabbed the Jaguars No 1 receiver. He finished the season as the 19th best receiver in football.

4. Vernon Davis, TE (SF) — Rich C Talk about coming out of nowhere. Davis was looking like a bust, but then Alex Smith came in and Davis became his favorite target. Rich grabbed him in week four and shipped him off to Colby a couple weeks later.

5. Colts DST (IND) — Rob M Rob was desperate for a defense and the second Molly dropped the Colts D, Masterson jumped on them. Suddenly, a hole was filled.

6. Cadillac Williams, WR (TB) — Matt He filled in nicely after Matt grabbed him in week one. He finished 26th, but did a good job filling in for when Frank Gore went down early in the season.

7. Terrell Owens, WR (BUF) — Eric For nine weeks he did nothing, catching 23 balls and one touchdown. I cut him and Eric picks him up. His first two games for Eric? 436 and 242 points, helping lead Eric on a three-game winning streak that got him into the post-season.

8. Fred Davis, TE (WAS) — Jeff Both Bob and Jeff lost elite tight ends for the season and both struggled to pick up a replacement. Bob went with the Vikings TE and he was fine, but in week 11, Jeff grabbed Cooley’s replacement, Fred Davis who had a great late season run. Too bad for Bob, he didn’t grab Davis. When he lost in the semis by 88, his tight end scored 42. Davis hit 180. You can do the math. Too bad for Jeff, his season ended a week earlier.

9. Visanthe Shaincoe, TE (MIN) — Bob He was drafted, cut, picked up and cut by Masterson. However, when Cooley went down, Shaincoe joined Bob’s team. he produced some solid games (200, 152) although he never became the next Chris Cooley.

10. David Akers, PK (PHI) — Robio A kicker? What the hell am I smoking? Hey, I picked up a “All-Robio” player. It was the highlight of my season, cut me some slack.
