QUARTER FINALS LOSER – BURRIER BRUISERS
For the playoffs, Burrier decides to shake it up a bit by throwing in Tarvaris Jackson and DeAngelo Williams; two guys who have yet to sniff the starting lineup this year. I understand Jackson, he’s played well lately, but Williams has me scratching my head. Stokley is another guy throw into the mix. While Barber and Johnson are both still solid, I give this chance zero chance of pulling this one out of his ass.
QUARTER FINALS LOSER – ISLAMOFACISTS
Although I don’t see any chance that Calderon wins the title, there is enough talent to pull off an upset. Brees, Holt and Gates can all put up stunning big numbers and the Vikes D faces an awful 49ers O. However, Rudi hasn’t proven himself to carry the full load by himself and Rich goes three wide with two number two receivers (yes I know, Calvin is technically number one now, but don’t be shocked if he gets less catches than McDonald).
QUARTER FINALS LOSER – MOLLY POP
It was a great run while it lasted, but with Fred Jackson in the backfield and Joe Jurevicius at wideout, this is a patchwork team at best. Neither Palmer or James has been starter worthy, but Molly rolls the dice with her veterans or younger talents like Holmes and Kolby Smith.
QUARTER FINALS LOSER – THE SWAMP
How big of a hit was it losing Ronnie Brown? Despite missing six weeks now, he’s still the 8th best fantasy running back. That’s a huge loss. However, this week the NFL handed Eric a blessing by handing him a suspension free Henry. If Alexander can do something, anything, Eric has the tools to take own Matt, but he’s going to need stud games from Romo, White and Johnson. By the way, I can’t recall seeing a team with so many crosses on its bench.
SEMI-FINALS LOSER – THE CAUCASIANS
All year I talked about if, IF, Bob could get completely healthy, he’d be a dangerous team…and for a moment, it looked like he was finally ready to go, but then Bush had to go and get himself hurt for the year. With Bush down, Bob must go three-wide with Evans, Johnson and Ward. Jacobs is good enough to be a solo back, but if Bob is going to earn a trip to the finals, he’s going to need Manning to start playing like Brady.
SEMI-FINALS – YANKEE KILLAZ
Tom Brady, Tom Brady, Tom Brady…did I mention Tom Brady? Although Dave will feel a bit sting from losing Roy Williams for the playoffs, he still has Tom Brady and a decent enough running game in Graham and Steven Jackson. Graham has broken 240 in four out of his last six games, while Jackson is the one back who could keep up with an LT or a Peterson, but knocking out a 400-pt game. The receivers will be a concern, especially in round one. Luckily Dave’s playing Burrier.
RUNNER UP – GATOR NATON
First, let me say that if Tebow didn’t win the Heisman, then that award would always be considered an award. It makes me sick he’s a Gator. Anyhow, Don enters the playoffs as the highest scoring team and if he’s going to go down, that team will need to score lots of points. Hasselback will continue to play gunslinger, while Portis and McGahee will just keep giving him 200+ per game. The Titans D has looked awful lately, but after Denver, they got some favorable match ups. To win a championship, you need that star player to shine and someone is going to need to have ‘one of those’ games. Owens could be that guy, and so could Jennings. I’m not picking Don to win it all, but I certainly wouldn’t be surprised either.
CHAMPION – THE WIDE STANCE
Come playoff time, it all comes down the match ups and if Matt can escape the first round, then Matt will be sitting pretty. In week 15-16, LT and Peterson face off against the 8th, 26th 15th and 31st ranked run D’s in the league (The 26th and 31st in the championship week). His two receivers; Moss and Welker face off against the Fins and Jets; their combined stats against these two early this season; 28 catches, 504 yards and six touchdowns. Even the D only faces the Ravens, Raiders and the Texans (with a backup QB). However, Matt’s toughest match ups will come this week, where the match ups will be tougher. This is why I think he is the second most likely person to be upset in the first round, but if he can escape (which I’m predicting he will), he should have enough talent to go all the way.
QUARTER FINALS
#2 Gator Nation over #7 Islamofacists Rich will keep things interesting, but look for another 1,500-pt day from Gatorville.
#3 The Caucasians over #6 Molly Pop The game I’ve flipped flopped back and forth over, but in the end, Bob still has enough talent to win.
#4 The Swamp over #5 The Wide Stance The only upset (meaning, the only lower seed to win) in round one. Eric won’t lose by a lot, but Peterson and LT are too much.
SEMI-FINALS
#5 The Wide Stance over #4 Yankee Killaz A great round two match up; neither has real big advantage, but with Roy Williams out and Matt’s match ups, look for Matt to take down the #1 seed.
#2 Gator Nation over #3 The Caucasians Bob won’t need Bush to take down Molly, but he won’t take down Don without him.
