2007 Draft Rewind

ROUND ONE

1 DAVID – Steven Jackson (RB STL) Let’s go ahead and start the beginning of the worst first round in league history. Jackson was hammered behind a bad O-Line. He finished 15th, sandwiched between two Jaguar running backs.

2 ERIC – Shaun Alexander (RB SEA) Thanks to Alexander (and this season), no team will ever sign a veteran running back to a fat long contract, thus making drafting in fantasy football that much tougher. He dropped to 38th in running backs.

3 MATT – Brian Westbrook (RB PHI) Stud. Nothing else you can say except never, ever trade him…unless of course you’re trading him for Tomlinson, who finished 1st among backs. Brian, he took 2nd.

4 RICH C – Rudi Johnson (RB CIN) Injuries killed the most reliable player over the last five years. By the time he came back, he was sharing carries with Watson. Rudi started only nine games, finishing 50th in RB rankings.

5 GRIFF – Cedric Benson (RB CHI) This was his time, this was his moment. What did he do with it? Yeah, he bombed, finishing 42nd among running backs. He eventually went on the IR, which probably was a blessing for Griff.

6 COLBY – Thomas Jones (RB NYJ) Seriously, one rushing touchdown. That’s all he could muster with 310 carries? It’s one thing to crush your owner’s dreams when you’re hurt, but Jones had no excuse to finish 19th.

7 RICH B – L. Tomlinson (RB SD) Keeper He didn’t have the fastest start and since he was in his final year with Burrier, he was traded to Robio, who gave him up to Matt. He got hot and along with Adrian Peterson, led Matt to his first title.

8 MOLLY – Edgerrin James (RB ARI) He found his way back into the top ten (finishing 9th), but did anyone really notice? If you can’t at least get four yards per carry, you don’t belong in the first round anymore, even if youre a former Cane, who’s cousin starts there now. Yeah, I went there.

9 ROB M – Marvin Harrison (WR IND) How does one’s season go bad? Easy. Just draft a top receiver and have him only appear in five total games, thus destroying your vaunted three-receiver attack. He finished 102nd among receivers then had someone shot. Nice going, Marv.

10 BOB – Reggie Bush (RB NO) Keeper He was a controversial first pick in ’06 and a skeptical keeper in ’07. However, things looked great when McAllister went out for the year. Bush though, could never take advantage of it (ranked 26th), missing four games on the year.

11 ROBIO – Chad Johnson (WR CIN) It seemed like he was having a bad year, yet he still managed to finish 5th at WR. He was traded to Burrier in a package deal that eventually landed me Westbrook/Boldin.

12 DON – Clinton Portis (RB WAS) Injury issues scared the rest of us off, but Don took a chance on him. Although he split touches all year, he still somehow finished 5th in running backs, the best of all the nine running backs drafted in this round (excluding keepers).

ROUND TWO

13 DON – Terrell Owens (WR DAL) He was a rock star all season and really was the one player who dominated for Don, the league scoring title. Sometimes taking an attitude problem does pay off. He finished 2nd among WRs.

14 ROBIO – Willie Parker (RB PIT) Keeper He was suppose to be a star, a solid steal even in the second round. While he did manage to rush for 1,300 yards, he produced only two TDs, landing 16th among running backs (after getting injured late in the season).

15 BOB – Peyton Manning (QB IND) Eli’s big brother didn’t get another Superbowl ring, but he did finish as the 3rd best QB. There has been no more of a surer thing in fantasy football. Yet, he’s still a Bush supporter. What a cock!

16 ROB M – Steve Smith (WR CAR) It’s one thing to have Harrison get hurt and help kill your season. It’s another thing to have Steve Smith under perform all season long to help destroy your season too. He may have finished 17th, but it felt much worse.

17 MOLLY – Carson Palmer (QB CIN) It seemed like a bad year, but he still finished 9th among arms. Although he started for Molly early on, he ended up on the bench after the arrival of Favre. 18 RICH B – Marshawn Lynch (RB BUF) He got off to a slow start and suffered some injuries, but how good could have Rich been if he had both Lynch and LT in the playoffs. Too bad he traded this 13th ranked RB to COLBY. He could have been a nice second round keeper. Oh, the price of winning NOW.

19 COLBY – Cadillac Williams (RB TB) The highest drafted ACL injury sent the Caddy into the shop after only four games. Did it matter? He barely broke 400 fantasy points in those four games. Too bad they failed to spend the dough on Graham, could have been a season-saver.

20 GRIFF – Reggie Wayne (WR IND) No more will Wayne last longer than Marvin ‘8MM’ Harrison. He dominated all season long, finishing 4th among all receivers.

21 RICH C – Torry Holt (WR STL) He struggled all season with injuries, but didn’t miss much time. Yet he still nearly cracked the top ten, finishing 12th among WRs.

22 MATT – Adrian Peterson (RB MIN) After Tom Brady, Peterson was clearly the second best pick. Despite splitting time and missing a couple of games due to injury, he still finished 3rd among RBs. Could Matt have a three-year dynasty in the making?

23 ERIC – Ronnie Brown (RB MIA) Keeper Guess who was the number one running back (by a lot) after six weeks? If you said Ronnie Brown, give yourself a hand job. Despite missing nine games, he still managed to finish 24th among RBs.

24 DAVID – Roy Williams (WR DET) He showed some solid stats, but injuries derailed his season early. He finished 31st. Can this guy ever step up and become an elite receiver? Didn’t I ask that question last year too? I’m going to ask it again in ’08, aren’t I?

ROUND THREE

25 DAVID – Tom Brady (QB NE) Finished first among QBs. We should have saw it coming. With all the new receivers, we should have known. But 6,932 fantasy points? 50 touchdowns to eight interceptions? Jesus.

26 ERIC – Larry Fitzgerald (WR ARI) If you ever saw him at Pitt, you knew he’d be a stud and he’s not disappointing anyone. He finished 6th among receivers, despite all the quarterback issues in the Desert in ’07.

27 MATT – Randy Moss (WR NE) Keeper And to think, he came into the draft, looking to trade this keeper. Moss had the greatest fantasy season for any receiver. Quick trivia…Moss is the only receiver to break 4,000 fantasy points in a season. He’s done it twice (’03 & ’07)

28 RICH C – Antonio Gates (TE SD) Too early for a tight end? Hard to argue that it is. Only 16 wide receivers produced better numbers. However, keep this in might, Gates actually only finished 3rd among tight ends, behind Witten and Gonzalez.

29 GRIFF – T.J. Houshmandzadeh (WR CIN) Griff didn’t make the playoffs, but it wasn’t because of his receiving core. After landing the new star in Indy in round two, he landed Cincy’s top dog (for most of the season). Housh landed in the 9th spot.

30 COLBY – Anquan Boldin (WR ARI) He was suppose to be a part of the dynamic duo of receivers in Arizona, however, he forgot to show up. He was traded to Matt, who traded him to me (as part of the LT trade). His body didn’t hold up, falling to 23rd among receivers.

31 RICH B – Drew Brees (QB NO) He had a terrible start and Burrier jettisoned him off to Calderon. It would be a mistake. Brees found his groove in the second half, finishing 4th in quarterbacks.

32 MOLLY – Javon Walker (WR DEN) How happy would Molly have been if I predicted that Walker would finish one spot behind Marvin Harrison? Well, he did…at 103rd. Javon was hurt all season, living on Molly’s IR. He cracked 26 catches.

33 ROB M – Marc Bulger (QB STL) The first true QB bust. Injuries to the Rams’ O-line got Bulger killed, thus killing Masterson’s season. He finished 27th in QB rating, behind even Cleo Lemon.

34 BOB – Andre Johnson (WR HOU) After week one, Andre was the second best receiver, only behind Randy Moss. Sadly for Bob, it would be seven more weeks before he would step on the field (thanks to an injury in week two). He still managed to 26th among WRs. Not bad.

35 ROBIO – DST Bears (DST CHI) I traded them to Matt, who traded them to Colby, killing his season. For the record, here’s how drafting the first defense has worked out over the years: Bears 13th, Bears 2nd, Bills 24th, Ravens 3rd, Bucs 4th, Bucs 1st, Titans 24th.

36 DON – Tony Gonzalez (TE KC) If we’re going to argue that Gates deserves a third round slot, then you have to give the same props to Gonzalez. He finished 2nd among tight asses (only behind Witten), despite dealing with QB issues all season long.

ROUND FOUR

37 DON – Matt Hasselbeck (QB SEA) He’s never mentioned with the elite, but always finds a way to sneak into the top. After a slow start, the Seahawks gave up on the run. He finished 7th among QBs, helping Don land the scoring title.

38 ROBIO – Donald Driver (WR GB) Has any player had a less-than-impressive 80 catch, 1,000 yard season than Driver? Seriously. He was only the third best receiver on the Packers. He can thank his pathetic two TDs for finishing 25th among receivers (only ahead of Andre Johnson), who missed seven games for Christ sake.

39 BOB – Hines Ward (WR PIT) He struggled to stay healthy (which was a theme for Bob’s team in ’07) and even when he did play, he didn’t do much, averaging barely 10 yards per catch. He nailed down the 31st spot among receivers.

40 ROB M – Julius Jones (RB DAL) You can’t blame Rob for taking him, he needed a second back and Jones had teased us all before. Again though, he let down another team, finishing 41st among backs. Now he’s in Seattle and again, someone will use an early pick on him.

41 MOLLY – DST Patriots (DST NE) I’ll be the first to admit, I thought this was bad pick. Not only did I think it was too early, but I thought the defense was simply too old. Maybe that’s why I don’t win titles anymore. The Pats, drafted second, finished 2nd among D’s.

42 RICH B – Mark Clayton (WR BAL) Can we finally stop wasting high picks on this guy? I’m not going to bash Burrier, we all probably would have taken him here, but no more. He finished 83rd and never sniffed Rich’s lineup.

43 COLBY – Lee Evans (WR BUF) I thought this kid was going to breakout, instead he had one of the worst start to a season in league history. He was cut by Colby and landed on Bob’s roster, where he finally put up some stats, finishing 29th.

44 GRIFF – Todd Heap (TE BAL) A big waste of a pick, considering Griff landed the #1 tight end, much later. Heap was injured all season, playing in only six games. He was cut and picked up by Robio, never seeing any time as a starter.

45 RICH C – Darrell Jackson (WR SF) The run of bad receivers doesn’t stop here, in fact, it only gets worse. Jackson struggled to stay healthy and live up to his reputation (wait, he had one?). He was cut early, finishing 127th among receivers.

46 MATT – Santana Moss (WR WAS) Rule number #37, don’t draft Redskin receivers. Moss was suppose to have a good year, because he always followed up one bad year, with a good year. Last year was his bad year. Whoops. He finished 39th among WRs.

47 ERIC – Plaxico Burress (WR NYG) Finally, a receiver breaks out of this pathetic pack of 4th round busts. Burress had some solid moments and was a top receiver all season long. He finished 11th among WRs.

48 DAVID – Vincent Jackson (WR SD) Every year ‘experts’ try to predict the ‘breakout’ receiver In ’07 it was suppose to be Clayton, or maybe Berrian or this guy. Somehow Dave kept this guy around all season long, despite finishing 53rd among receivers.

ROUND FIVE

49 DAVID – DST Steelers (DST PIT) It’s now round five and this is really only Dave’s second good pick so far. Man, Brady really did have a fucking good season. The Steel Curtain finished 5th among D’s.

50 ERIC – Tony Romo (QB DAL) He finished second in QB, behind Brady, ahead of Peyton. His solid start led Eric to 5-0, but too many interceptions became an issue.

51 MATT – Alge Crumpler (TE ATL) Crumple crumbled without the dog killer, falling to 14th among tight ends. While he started for Matt for most of the season, he was benched come playoff time.

52 RICH C – Calvin Johnson (WR DET) Never draft rookie receivers…at least not this early. Calvin will be good, but ’07 wasn’t it. He finished 30th among receivers and is probably still two years away from being a real star.

53 GRIFF – Larry Johnson (RB KC) Keeper The big question all year was, who was the biggest bust, Alexander or Johnson? While Johnson got hurt and finished lower (43rd), we’ll give it to Alexander, since Eric wasted his first round pick, while Griff just lost a 5th round keeper.

54 COLBY – Donovan McNabb (QB PHI) Keeper He stayed healthy, but never looked like the old McNabb, finished 12th in QBs. Look for him to fall even further next year down the draft board.

55 RICH B – Chris Chambers (WR MIA) The Fins sucked, so Chambers sucked too. But then he was traded to San Diego, and he didn’t suck as much. He took 27th among receivers.

56 MOLLY – Frank Gore (RB SF) Keeper Coming out of ’06, Gore looked like a steal in the Tiki, LJ-mode, but he struggled all season and finished with with only 1,100 yards. However, it really must of been a bad year for running backs, since Gore still finished 8th among backs.

57 ROB M – Joseph Addai (RB IND) Keeper The lone bright spot for Masterson’s 5-8 disaster of a season (as well as keeping me out of the playoffs in week 13). Addai knocked out over 1,400 total yards and 15 touchdowns. He finished 4th behind only LT, Westbrook and Peterson, thus earning elite status.

58 BOB – Vernon Davis (TE SF) Again, Vern couldn’t stay on the field, failing once again to live up to his potential. There is hope though. If Winslow can get healthy and breakout in year three, so can Davis.

59 ROBIO – Tatum Bell (RB DET) No more will Tatum be drafted. His new name is Tatum Bust. He finished 82nd among running backs, once again, failing to stay on my roster for more than a few weeks.

60 DON – Willis McGahee (RB BAL) Keeper He never fulfilled the potential he showed prior to getting hurt in the Fiesta Bowl, but he finished 10th among running backs, one of only three teams to have two backs in the top ten

ROUND SIX

61 DON – Michael Turner (RB SD) Keeper He never got playing time, so we can’t judge this pick. However, he’ll be starting in Atlanta, so we’ll hold off judgment on this pick (if Don keeps him).

62 ROBIO – Travis Henry (RB DEN) He couldn’t score, he couldn’t stay healthy and he was a big time bust, since I didn’t use a top pick on running back because of him. The 40th ranked RB was cut by mid-season.

63 BOB – Brandon Jackson (RB GB) Heading into the season, Jackson was supposed to be the one with the most potential to come out of the crowded Packers’ backfield. At first, it looked like he would, but injuries opened up room for Ryan Grant to step in. He was cut by Bob, finishing 66th among running backs.

64 ROB M – LaMont Jordan (RB OAK) For a brief moment, he looked like the steal of the draft. He was getting the carries out of a decent Raiders running game. Injuries derailed him though. Although he still finished 39th among backs, he finished the season as a free agent.

65 MOLLY – Randy McMichael (TE STL) What happens when you take a great TE who’s been stuck on a bad team, and put him on a good team? Well, we never found out. The Rams were an awful team in ’07 and Randy was the 16st best tight end.

66 RICH B – DeAngelo Williams (RB CAR) The Panthers refusal to make one guy ‘the man’ in the backfield, makes any pick a worthless pick; proven once again in 2007. Although Williams did finish 27th, five ahead of Foster, but DeAngelo was cut.

67 COLBY – Deion Branch (WR SEA) Injuries destroyed his season, which was too bad considering how often they passed the ball up in Seattle. However, you can’t win if your receiver only finishes 49th among receivers.

68 GRIFF – DST Chargers (DST SD) Keeper They got off to a slow start (as did Griff), but the Bolts rolled down the stretch (as did Griff), finishing first among defenses. Griff on the other hand did not finish first, except in our hearts.

69 RICH C – D. McAllister (RB NO) Keeper A safe keep, that’s what McAllister was suppose to be for Calderon, but another ACL injury ended his season way too soon. In fact, Deuce was the first ACL RB of the year.

70 MATT – M. Jones-Drew (RB JAC) Keeper He had a slow start, but by mid-season he was in top-six form (he finished 13th). However, Matt was stacked at RB and set at keepers in ’08, so he was traded to COLBY.

71 ERIC – DST Broncos (DST DEN) The first real big bust among D’s. The Broncos couldn’t stop Eric’s mother from gaining five yards per carry, thus they fell to 28th among defenses. Yet somehow, they were still picked up by Bob. Man, he must have been desperate for D.

72 DAVID – Heath Miller (TE PIT) He finished 7th among tight ends, but keep it in your pants, there’s a solid 500-pt drop off from the 6th ranked TE to the 7th ranked tight end. Although his seven TDs helped Dave, his team was so dominate, he could have played without a TE.

ROUND SEVEN

73 DAVID – L. Maroney (RB NE) Keeper While Dave benefited from the Patriots’ 55 passes per game, it killed Maroney’s stats, forcing him to Dave’s bench for most of the year. He performed better down the stretch, finishing 25th among backs.

74 ERIC – Ahman Green (RB HOU) Keeper He’s old and worthless and by the time the season ended, he was sitting deep, deep on Eric’s bench. He finished the season 64th among backs.

75 MATT – Jon Kitna (QB DET) He promised us 10 wins, but failed to deliver. I blame God. Matt was looking for big numbers, and at times, he did. Like the Lions’ season, he fell apart at the end, finishing 14th.

76 RICH C – Fred Taylor (RB JAC) He had his best season in three years (15th among RBs), and made a solid fantasy backup for champion, Matt. Wait, for Matt? You’re telling me Rich didn’t have room for him among his nine running backs?

77 GRIFF – Jerious Norwood (RB ATL) I just don’t get this guy. He looks like a star in the making, but he can’t get enough touches, despite knocking out a league high, 6.0ypg. Hell, he doesn’t even get goal line touches. Then the Falcons bring in Turner. It doesn’t make sense.

78 COLBY – Jamal Lewis (RB CLE) Again, this may have more to do with the fact that the RB position was down, but Jamal Lewis actually finished 6th in running. Too bad it didn’t really help these boys out too much.

79 RICH B – Ronald Curry (WR OAK) After six straight RBs fly off the board, Burrier brings us back to receivers with one of 90 potential Raiders’ hands.

80 MOLLY – M. Colston (WR NO) Keeper He had a slow start, but by mid-season he proved to be one of the better keepers. He finished 9th among receivers and help Molly earn a playoff spot.

81 ROB M – Laveranues Coles (WR NYJ) He was hurt, his QB situation sucked and he finished 44th among receivers. I wonder how long it will be before Rob drafts another Jet receiver?

82 BOB – Donte’ Stallworth (WR NE) I thought he was going to have a breakout year in New England and the Pats did have two top-ten receivers. However, Stallworth wasn’t one of them. He sat on Bob’s bench most of the year, finishing 47th.

83 ROBIO – Jeremy Shockey (TE NYG) Shockey proves again that he’s not an elite tight end anymore (was he ever?). He did finish 10th, despite missing two games. He was packaged to Burrier for LT, but made little impact.

84 DON – Joey Galloway (WR TB) He had a decent year, producing some great games early. Despite only catching just over 50 balls all season, he still managed to break 1,000 yards, finishing 21st among WRs.

ROUND EIGHT

85 DON – DST Eagles (DST PHI) Is it any wonder that Don began his climb up to the scoring title once he sat the pathetic Eagles’ defense for the Titans? No, there is no wonder. The green birds finished 20th among defenders.

86 ROBIO – Bernard Berrian (WR CHI) Another wasted pick by me. Seriously, when was the last time I nailed a mid-to-late round sleeper? I’ll get back to you on that one. Berrian sucked, finished 30th among ball catchers.

87 BOB – DST Dolphins (DST MIA) Ouch, now I see why you picked up an awful Broncos D, as the Fins finished 31st. Wait, Eric picked up the Dolphins D? So Bob picked up Eric’s busted D, while Eric picked up Bob’s busted D. There are no winners in this sad, sad tale.

88 ROB M – Chris Cooley (TE WAS) Masterson breaks a string of six straight tight end busts in the 2007 draft. Cooley had a handful of solid games and cracked the top ten among tight ends.

89 MOLLY – Santonio Holmes (WR PIT) Molly sure does love her breakout receivers. Holmes was the best receiver in pass-happy Pittsburgh, although he only managed 19th among receivers, it could just be a stepping stone to elite status in ’08.

90 RICH B – Marcus Pollard (TE SEA) I couldn’t quite figure out this pick. How does Burrier pass on an established (and available) Jason Witten, for a sub par tight end, joining a team that’s never utilized the tight end position much? It cost him as Pollard finished 29th among TE’s.

91 COLBY – Benjamin Watson (TE NE) You would think that with all the passing yards and passing touchdowns, Mr. Watson would have done better than 15th ranked tight end. Of course, thinking hurts.

92 GRIFF – Jerricho Cotchery (WR NYJ) Wait, a Jet landed in the top 20? No shit.

93 RICH C – DeShaun Foster (RB CAR) It’s been 15 picks since the last RB taken and the second Panthers back. Again though, grabbing one doesn’t do much good. He rushes for more years than DeAngelo, but 32nd among backs, six back of D. Williams.

94 MATT – Warrick Dunn (RB ATL) Dunn is done, well technically he’s done now, retiring after the ’07 season. Based on his performance though from last year, maybe he should have hung up his spikes one year earlier. He finished 36th, cut by Matt early on.

95 ERIC – Terry Glenn (WR DAL) How about these numbers, Glenn had zero catches, zero yards, playing in zero games. Worst stats ever.

96 DAVID – Correll Buckhalter (RB PHI) Taking Westbrook’s backup, I guess is a good idea, but Westbrook only missed one game, so this does not turn into a 2007 version of Larry Johnson.

ROUND NINE

97 DAVID – Joe Horn (WR ATL) Over. That’s how you can sum of his career in one single word. Too bad Dave didn’t know it.

98 ERIC – Vernand Morency (RB GB) Packer back #2 goes to Eric and this one was even worse than the other one. He gets 29 rushes…for the whole season.

99 MATT – DST 49ers (DST SF) Weren’t they suppose to be good? I thought they had turned the corner. Instead, they put it into reverse, finishing ahead of only the Dolphins and Falcons in defense.

100 RICH C – Greg Jennings (WR GB) I would easily vote him as the best sleeper pick in ’07, but I can’t. How can I when Rich cut him. After having some injury issues early on, Rich cut him, Don picked him up, Don led the league in scoring, thanks to Jennings, who finished 14th among receivers, despite missing three games.

101 GRIFF – Devery Henderson (WR NO) We’ll forgive this pick. We can’t overlook that Griff did land two top-ten receivers early in the draft. We’ll just ignore this one.

102 COLBY – Ladell Betts (RB WAS) He played, but not enough to be a factor, but enough to keep Clinton Portis from being elite. He finished 54th among RBs, but first in our hearts.

103 RICH B – M. Barber (RB DAL) Keeper He was a force when he played, but again it was the playing that was the issue. He did finish 9th among backs, but if he was able to secure 5-7 more touches per game, he’d be a rock star.

104 MOLLY – DST Bengals (DST CIN) Someone every year takes a chance that Marve Lewis is going to finally get the Bengals Defense into the top half of the league and every year they make that person look like a jackass. They finished 19th. Also, I’m not sure why Molly took a second defense just five rounds after the Pats.

105 ROB M – B. Edwards (WR CLE) Keeper Rob drafted three receivers early, all big name, ready to go three-wide if his second back didn’t pan out. Maybe if he knew (and if any of us knew), it would be Edwards who would be the three-year WR breakout in ’07, 99 spots ahead of Rob’s first round wide receiver.

106 BOB – Reuben Droughns (RB NYG) Reuben got switched to fullback and quickly faded from our hearts and Bob’s roster. He never saw fantasy action in ’07. He finished 58th in rushing.

107 ROBIO – Mike Bell (RB DEN) Ugh, why do I keep wasting my time with Denver running back. For some reason I keep holding on to this lost glory of the vaunted Broncos’ rushing attack. Maybe when I learn, I’ll win again.

108 DON – Isaac Bruce (WR STL) He wasn’t as bad as I thought he would be. I apologize if I ripped Don too hard. However, don’t get too happy, he only finished 45th. Yes, I thought he would be worse.

ROUND TEN

109 DON – Adam Vinatieri (K IND) Ever year I write this sentence, “I can’t believe (person) drafted a kicker this early and this year is no different. The first keeper taken managed to finish 16th among kickers.

110 ROBIO – LenDale White (RB TEN) The dough boy never got enough touches to be effective for a whole season, but he did start a couple games for me, before moving over to Burrier via trade. He did out-perform his old USC teammate, Bush, by finishing 23rd among running backs.

111 BOB – B. Jacobs (RB NYG) Keeper He had some injury issues, but luckily Bob was able to always nail down his backup. When he did play though, he was effective. He started for Bob for most of the season, finishing 21st among backs.

112 ROB M – Leon Washington (RB NYJ) We won’t quite call it a homer pick, but Rob was looking for Thomas Jones to go down. He didn’t and Leon never snuck into the lineup.

113 MOLLY – Joey Harrington (QB ATL) Like every Joey Harrington pick before it, this one is a waste. He did finish 23rd among quarterbacks, which sadly might be his best ever.

114 RICH B – Jerry Porter (WR OAK) How bad was Rich’s receiving core…he actually started both Raiders receivers he drafted at some point during the season. Jerry finished 40th and was kicked off of Rich’s team midway through the season.

115 COLBY – DST Panthers (DST CAR) About half the league had the Panther’s D on their roster at some point during the season. I guess we’re all trying to re-live 2005. The Pussy Cats finished 18th.

116 GRIFF – Ben Roethlisberger (QB PIT) Coming off his horrid ’06, it’s understandable how Big Ben fell this far. For Griff, it was a blessing and a steal, landing the 8th ranked QB in the tenth.

117 RICH C – Chester Taylor (RB MIN) Every time it looked like Peterson was going to go down, everyone wanted Taylor, but all he did was steal just enough carries from Peterson to keep him from being the #1 back. However, for a guy who spent most of the season as a FA, he finished 20th among backs.

118 MATT – Jay Cutler (QB DEN) The first of the big name ’06 rookies (also Leinart and Young were both kept). He was the only one who cracked the top ten (he actually finished 10th). However, the jury is still out on this young pup.

119 ERIC – D.J. Hackett (WR SEA) In the last three rounds, Eric drafted two receivers (Glenn and Hackett) who played in a combined 4 games for Lil’ E. At least D.J. has keeper potential.

120 DAVID – Troy Williamson (WR MIN) Let’s keep this one simple, he sucks, he really sucks, he sucks so bad. He sucky sucks. Good night, good luck.

ROUND ELEVEN

121 DAVID – Stephen Gostkowski (K NE) A Pat fan takes the Pats kicker really early. At least he did finish 4th among kickers.

122 ERIC – Eli Manning (QB NYG) Yeah, he won the Superbowl, yippee for him. He’s still just a marginal fantasy QB, finishing 16th in the league.

123 MATT – Kevin Curtis (WR PHI) Yeah, I’ll admit it, I laughed at this pick (not loudly, but a light chuckle). However, before Matt celebrates about Curtis finishing an impressive 15th, the numbers weren’t all what they were cracked up to be. Over half his 1,110 yards came in two games, which means he produced about 500 yards in the rest.

124 RICH C – DST Vikings (DST MIN) The Vikes move into 10th among defenses in ’07. Can you say Keeper in ’08…oh wait, I said I wasn’t going to do predictions. Fuck, ignore that.

125 GRIFF – Nate Kaeding (K SD) He finished10th and didn’t even finish up on Griff’s roster (or anyone else’s for that matter).

126 COLBY – Colby Garcia (QB TB) Talk about a strange season. He only threw four interceptions all season long, but he managed only 13 touchdowns as well. He’s just a glorified fantasy backup (ranked 17th), yet he started for me (via trade). And I wonder how I missed the playoffs.

127 RICH B – DST Seahawks (DST SEA) Hey, a good pick by Burrier. The Seahawks actually finished 7th among defenses and third among Rich’s roster. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing in this situation. Since he finished last in scoring, I’m going to go with bad thing.

128 MOLLY – Michael Pittman (RB TB) Homer. Homer. Homer. I’m not sure what’s sadder, that Molly drafted him or that Griff actually picked him up at one point in the season. Stop it. It’s time to let go.

129 ROB M – Brandon Marshall (WR DEN) Now it’s time to play ‘what if’. What if Rob didn’t waste his top two picks on receivers? He certainly didn’t need too, he drafted (or kept) two top-eight receivers in the 9th and 11th rounds. What if he had taken Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson? Yeah, a man can dream can’t he?

130 BOB – Alex Smith (QB SF) Little Hands Smith was a bust coming off his satisfying ’06 campaign. He played in only seven games, throwing two touchdowns in the process. He finished 53rd among quarterbacks.

131 ROBIO – Greg Olsen (TE CHI) He was suppos to be a keeper, so I kept him on my roster all season long, even letting him start a game or two down the stretch. He did finish 20th, but I doubt I will even keep him in ’08.

132 DON – Chad Pennington (QB NYJ) Hi, my name is Kelley Clemens. You can’t throw the ball more than five yards, but I can. I hope you enjoyed being drafted by Don, it will be the last time. For the record, Chad finished 24th.

ROUND TWELVE

133 DON – Anthony Gonzalez (WR IND) He actually got playing time thanks to Harrison’s injury, but the rookie still only managed to finish 61st among receivers.

134 ROBIO – Daunte Culpepper (QB OAK) Talk about holding out for former glory. Daunte is done (he finished 33rd among arms). His career as a starter is over. I should have knew this before I wasted a pick on him.

135 BOB – Drew Bennett (WR STL) It was the year of the white receiver. In fact, two cracked the top fifteen among receivers. However, Bennett wasn’t one of them. He finished so far back, I don’t feel like looking it up.

136 ROB M – DST Ravens (DST BAL) Keeper In ’06, the Ravens defense was a great pick, one of the best in the draft. One year later though, they were a not-so-good keeper, falling to 16th among defenses. Maybe they shouldn’t have been starting for Masterson all season long.

137 MOLLY – Dennis Northcutt (WR JAC) He caught 44 balls for 800 yards. For a Jaguar receiver, this makes him a superstar, which still means he has no business on a fantasy roster, which may explain why Molly cut him.

138 RICH B – M. Muhammad (WR CHI) Burrier drafted five receivers in ’07 and Muhammad was the final one. None, absolutely none broke out. The best one was Chambers who finished 27th. Muhammad took 63rd among receivers.

139 COLBY – DST Jaguars (DST JAC) Keeper We all assumed they would be a solid steal (keeper) in the 12th, but they fell to 13th among defenses, eventually being shipped off to Burrier, who didn’t even need another defense.

140 GRIFF – Michael Bennett (RB KC) With Larry holding out, Bennett was a smart pick, but even when LJ went down for the year, Bennett was not the man, he was stuck in a crowded Tampa backfield.

141 RICH C – Kevin Jones (RB DET) For a brief moment, it looked like a great pick. Tatum had faltered and Jones was playing strong, but it was brief. He finished 29th among backs. For the record, Calderon ended up with four backs that finished between 18-33.

142 MATT – DST Cowboys (DST DAL) Not bad, not bad at all. They were traded to Robio for the Bears DST. They finished 8th among defenses, but they struggled with consistency. They would have one amazing game, followed by a shit game.

143 ERIC – Brandon Jones (WR TEN) Eric had his best year in Robioland, but it had nothing to do with his late receiver draft. Jones becomes his third straight bust WR pick. At least Brandon played, although you wouldn’t know it from his 21 catches in ’07.

144 DAVID – Rex Grossman (QB CHI) Quick, raise your hand if you thought Rex would survive the season as the starter. He finished 44th, playing in only eight games. If you’re going to blow a pick, this is one round to do it.

ROUND THIRTEEN

145 DAVID – Owen Daniels (TE HOU) Not many people draft backup tight ends, but Dave isn’t like most people. Daniels not only became Hightower’s second TE, he became his second to crack the top-eight.

146 ERIC – Kellen Winslow (TE CLE) keeper An amazing keeper who finished 4th among tight ends. However, even with 80 catches and five TDs, I can’t help but think he can do even better in 2008.

147 MATT – Wes Welker (WR NE) Now this pick I did laugh at and loudly. Welker finished 10th among receivers, which may be the best stats by a white receiver in fantasy history.

148 RICH C – Shayne Graham (K CIN) He finished second among receivers (good pick, right?). Too bad he was the league’s second best kicker for Masterson.

149 GRIFF – Jason Witten (TE DAL) One of the best sleeper picks in the draft. Despite drafting a TE in the 4th round, Griff nabbed Witten and the league’s #1 tight end. Yes, #1 tight end, beating out Gonzalez by 27 fantasy points.

150 COLBY – Robbie Gould (K CHI) The kickers went flying off the board, so Colby grabbed a good one. Robbie finished 5th, one spot ahead of the kicker Colby cut him for (Folk).

151 RICH B – Matt Leinart (QB ARI) keeper Can you believe they were actually rotating quarterbacks in Arizona. I’m embarrassed for him. Matt played in five games before going down and out. He ranked 52nd among arms.

152 MOLLY – Dallas Clark (TE IND) Dallas wraps up what has shaped up to be a solid round of tight ends. The 13th round produced more top-six tight ends, than than the first five rounds combined.

153 ROB M – DeDe Dorsey (RB IND) Drafted the wrong Indianapolis back up running back. No big deal, he also picked up the correct one later.

154 BOB – Matt Stover (K BAL) Stover becomes the third straight kicker that was drafted, but cut by the team. He finished 19th among kickers.

155 ROBIO – Vince Young (QB TEN) keeper No, I didn’t expect him to rule the league. I didn’t expect a Brady, Manning or even a McNabb. But this bad? Nine TDs, 17 INT’s, rushing for less than 400 yards? He killed my season.

156 DON – Chris Brown (RB TEN) With White off the board, someone had to nap Brown. He got some yards, he got a few touchdowns, we all had a few laughs. He was stuck on Don’s bench all season long, finishing 45th among RBs.

ROUND FOURTEEN

157 DON – Matt Jones (WR JAC) If he’s drafted again next year, the person who drafts him should be removed from the league.

158 ROBIO – Anthony Thomas (RB BUF) I was hoping Lynch would fail or get hurt. He did get hurt for a bit, but it wasn’t the A-Train they turned to. He did finish with an impressive 84 yards on the season.

159 BOB – Adrian Peterson (RB CHI) He actually did become a starter, but by the time Benson went down, Peterson was long gone from Bobby’s roster.

160 ROB M – Byron Leftwich (QB JAC) Someone drafted the wrong quarterback. He was cut, landing in Atlanta, splitting time with Harrington. I think I said enough already. Byron finished 72nd in QBs.

161 MOLLY – Michael Robinson (RB SF) Molly goes safe and nabs her star backs, backup. He never was a factor.

162 RICH B – Marcedes Lewis (TE JAC) He was suppose to be a sleeper, but never woke up (Yeah I know, it felt lame just writing that). He finished 21st among TE’s., eventually losing his starting spot in Burrier’s lineups.

163 COLBY – Demetrius Williams (WR BAL) Jeff’s roommate, Evan (and baseball champion) swore Williams would be a steal. Colby rolled the dice and what did we learn? Never listen to Evan in fantasy baseball. He caught 20 balls for 290 yards.

164 GRIFF – Ted Ginn Jr. (WR MIA) He can only be considered a keeper pick, because I can’t imagine Griff expected anything from a rookie receiver on the league’s worst offense.

165 RICH C – DST Jets (DST NYJ) After a solid ’06, one can see where Rich was coming from when he picked up the Jets D this late. Too bad, they ended up 23rd, cut, eventually landing on Masterson’s bench.

166 MATT – Reggie Brown (WR PHI) After keeping Moss and drafting Curtis and Welker, we will forgive an forget Matt’s homer pick. Brown managed to finish 38th among receivers, finishing his season with Colby & Colby.

167 ERIC – L.J. Smith (TE PHI) He couldn’t stay healthy and was cut by Eric early. He floated onto a couple of teams, but ended the year as a free agent, and the 38th ranked tight end.

168 DAVID – DST Chiefs (DST KC) The last defense taken. At least this year (unlike in 2006), Dave didn’t waste a high pick on the vaunted Chiefs Defense. They finish 17th, at least beating out the Eagles, which always makes me happy inside.

ROUND FIFTEEN

169 DAVID – Dominic Rhodes (RB OAK) He got suspended and by the time he came back, he was 4th on the dept chart. He never cracked a spot on anyone’s lineup.

170 ERIC – Josh Scobee (K JAC) Six kickers went in rounds 10-14. No kickers were taken in the 14th. Eric starts off the second half run of kickers, but he picked a bad one. Scobee finished 30th among kickers.

171 MATT – Neil Rackers (K ARI) Talk abut a drop off. He was the best kicker in ’06. In ’07, he was the 26th best kicker.

172 RICH C – Philip Rivers (QB SD) Keeper Rivers had an awful start and was traded to Burrier for Brees. While Birthmark Drew got his groove on finally, Rivers never cracked the top ten, finishing 15th for the season at QB.

173 GRIFF – Matt Schaub (QB HOU) Keeper Griff actually did a great job drafting late QBs, landing Big Ben in the 10th and Schaub in the 15th. Matt looked very impressive early on, but injuries ended his season prematurely.

174 COLBY – Brady Quinn (QB CLE) Starred in more commercials (for products I never hear of) than games he played in. COLBY grabbed Anderson and Quinn was gone.

175 RICH B – Jason Elam (K DEN) He only missed four field goals all year, but he only took 31. Not enough to be a great kicker. He finished 13th on Bobs roster.

176 MOLLY – Colby Wilkins (K STL) If the offense can’t move the ball, the kicker gets no shots. He finished 27th (and yet he was my kicker). No wonder I missed the playoffs.

177 ROB M – Olindo Mare (K NO) He finished 33rd among kickers. Really? There’s only 32 damn teams in the league.

178 BOB – JaMarcus Russell (QB OAK) He got a few touches as a rookie, but this pick was never meant to be worth anything in ’07. We’ll come back to this next year.

179 ROBIO – Martin Gramatica (K DAL) He was hurt, he was cut and I didn’t land Folk. Enough said.

180 DON – Jesse Chatman (RB MIA) Actually could have been a decent pick if Don held on to him for half the season. After Ronnie went down, Eric picked him up and actually started the Chatman.

BEST FREE AGENT PICK UPS

1. Greg Jennings, Don, Week four ($0) My pick for the best free agent pick up. How often do you get to pick up the 14th best receiver in the 4th week. And if you think about it, those three missed games hurt his numbers. I’d be willing to bet he was a top-five WR once he was on the field.

2. Derek Anderson, Colby, week three ($1) Don picked him up in week three and dropped him the same week. He should of held on to him. Colby snatched him up and had himself the 6th best QB and a great keeper in ’08.

3. Brett Favre, Molly, week three ($5) Favre went undrafted for the first time in his career. Calderon picked him up in week two, but dropped him for Garcia (with the Brees trade it wasn’t a big deal). However, he was a solid grab for Molly, who put Palmer on the bench. Favre finished 5th among quarterbacks.

4. Ernest Graham, Dave, Week five ($16) Every year a star RB goes down and his backup steps right in and becomes a star himself. Graham was the man in ’07, and Dave spent the money to get him ($16). He finished 11th among RBs, thanks to 10 TDs.

5. Kurt Warner, Matt, week six ($21) He had been all but forgotten, until Leinart struggled. Matt spent big on him, desperately trying to fill a hole at QB. He landed him and when healthy, Kurt paid off, finishing 11th among quarterbacks.

6. Dwayne Bowie, Rich C ($4) He finished 22nd among receivers, five yards short of 1,000 yards. He could be a solid three-year pick.

7. Packers DST, Molly, week one ($1) The Packers went undrafted and were a top-five defense for most of the season. They fell off late, but still finished 11th.

8. Kenny Watson, Rich C, week four ($15) After Rich’s first round pick (Rudi J.) went out, he landed his backup Watson, who played some pretty solid ball, landing Rich one solid win at least. Kenny finished 18th among RBs, but had to split time down the stretch once Rudi came back.

9. David Garrard, Rob M, week one ($2) With Bulger injured almost all season, Rob needed a QB bad. He landed Garrard, who finished 13th. That may not seem that impressive, but he only threw three interceptions all season long. Safe, baby.

10. Roddy White, Eric, week four ($5) Roddy might have had the most quietest 1,200-yard season in league history. White finished 13th among receivers, however Eric had solid WRs, so White never really left the bench.

11. Justin Fargas, Rob M, week nine ($4) He didn’t start right away, so his 22nd ranking doesn’t blow us away, but for a handful of games, he filled in nicely for a 2nd-RB challenged Masterson team.

12. Giants DST, Bob, week five ($2) After two weeks, no one was going to touch them, then they stated to figure it out and just like that, Calderon had a solid D (Man, Calderon is on this list a lot). He ended up cutting them late, so Bob got them for the playoffs. The G-Men finished 9th, but they were top-five in the second half of the season.

13. P. Crayton, Rich C, week 2 & 5 ($0, $2) Calderon had this season’s worst drop in Jennings. Who did he drop Jennings for? Patrick Crayton. In fact, Rich picked up Crayton twice in the season (in week two and five). Patrick finished 38th (handing Rich a couple solid games). More importantly, it was his drop that pretty much sealed his Giants’ playoff win over Dallas.
