2000 Season Rewind

I overcame a 0-4 start, but I couldn’t avoid the upset in the semis, so no three-peat for Robio.

Back in 2000, there wasn’t a lot of writing. Fact is, we all worked together, so we did this thing called, “talking.” Anyhow, here are the brief things I posted that season.

WEEK ONE

Congratulations to the Week one winners. Especially Rick and Chris. Each craked the top 10 in the top score in one game. Rick’s 2,094 is third all time. Chris’ 1,820 is fifth all time.

For those of you who didn’t have the started they had hoped. Last years champion had the record worse score the opening week.

Reminder: Place a message on the message board when your team is ready for the upcoming weekend

WEEK TWO

Newcomer, Justin ends the longest Fantasy Footaball winning streak at 12 by defeating Rob.

Also, Tim finds himself not below .500 for the first time in history after ending his 8 game losing streak.

Congratulations to Brian and Chris for breaking into the list of top ten single game scores.

WEEK THREE

Congratulations to Rick, Justin, and Brian. undefeated in the division.

Look out: Rob & Griff, last year’s SuperBowl teams, lurking close behind.

Message to Tim–That will be two coats of wax on Rick’s truck.

Message to Stephanie–Can you say ‘oral compensation’.

WEEK FOUR

No write up.

WEEK FIVE

Remember: Head-to-head competition is the first tie-breaker, not total points. (That’s why Jimmy is currently a 7th seed instead of the 5th seed) Congatulations to Justin for becoming the first team to start the season 5-0. Congratulations to John for avoiding Tim as the only teams to start o-5

WEEK SIX

Justin loses but keeps the top seed in the playoffs from Rob.

The bottom of the league steps up in week six, as (12th) John, (11) Tim, and (10th) Matt all pull out victories.

GO Hurricanes!

WEEK SEVEN

Six weeks to go and everybody has a shot. Everybody is within one game of a playoff position. There have also been plenty of close games, so keep an eye out on the who your players are playing against. There has been eight games decided by 20 points or less.

WEEK EIGHT

No write up.

WEEK NINE

…that is after John and Dave’s record setting performance. It marks the first time a total score was below 1,000 points. To add injury to insult…Johnny Love has lost TE Weslie Walls for the year. Sorry John…it may be time to sail quietly into that good night.

WEEK TEN

Robio’s Hurricane is the first team to clinch a playoff berth.

A victory for either Rick, Justin, Brian, or Griff will assure them a spot in the playoffs.

If Tim loses his next game against Jimmy, Tim will be elminated from the playoff picture.

WEEK ELEVEN

Defending Champion, Robio lost his third game of the year. He has lost all three games by a total of 70 points.

Rick and Griff join Rob in the playoff picture.

Griff puts his name on the top ten scoring list for the first time, as Tim puts his name on the bottom ten for the third time.

WEEK TWELVE

No write up.

WEEK THIRTEEN

No write up.

WEEK FOURTEEN

No write up.

QUARTERFINALS

SEMIFINALS

FINALS

Rob Murray capped off another great year, with a easy SuperBowl victory over Griff, for the second season in a row. Robio’s Hurricanes combined record in the two seasons is 27-7. After sweeping through the season and playoffs last season with 11 wins in a row, Rob struggled in the end of this season going 3-3. The playoffs were not any easier after Rob struggled to beat Dave and Chris in the first two rounds. But Rob had little trouble beating Griff, who upset top-seeded Rick in the second round, for the fifth time in five tries. Maybe next year for everybody else!
